Piano Competition (twice), the Piano Competition for Young Children
in Tianjin, and the 10th Xing Hai Cup Chinese National Piano
Competition in Beijing. More recently she was selected as the UBC
Artsway Ambassador and was a finalist in both the Knigge Canadian
National Competition in Vancouver and the 17th Chautauqua
International Piano competition in New York. Yi Qing has performed
in music festivals in China, Singapore, Austria, Italy, Canada and
the United States, including the First Beijing International Piano Art
Festival, the Casalmaggiore International Festival in Italy (twice), the
Summer Piano Academy in Linz, Austria, the Toronto Summer Music
academy, and the Chautauqua Music Festival. Recently Yi Qing has
been invited to perform in various venues in Canada such as the Rising
Star concert series in Toronto, the Sky walk concert series in Winnipeg,
and the Te Deum Series Recital in Brandon.
Contestant 4: Nino Bakradze
Nino Bakradze, a student of Professor Tannis Gibson, was born in
Tbilisi, Georgia into a family of musicians. She received her Bachelor
of Music and Master of Music degrees from Tbilisi V. Saradjishvili
State Conservatory. Ms. Bakradze completed a Graduate Diploma from
New England Conservatory with Alexander Korsantia in 2013, and a
Professional Studies Certificate from the Boston Conservatory with
Jonathan Bass in 2014. She is currently enrolled in the DMA program
in piano performance at the University of Arizona where she holds a
graduate teaching assistantship. From a very early age, Ms. Bakradze
has presented piano recitals worldwide including Finland, Poland,
Armenia, Georgia, China, Spain, Brazil and the United States. In 2014
she was a prizewinner in Spain’s Maria Canals International Piano
Competition, and in 2012 she was awarded third place at the BNDS
International Piano Competition of Rio de Janeiro. She received first
prize for New England Conservatory’s Concerto Competition and
the Piano Honors Competition, and was a recent prize winner at the
International A. Khachaturian Competition in Armenia. She has
participated in master classes presented by distinguished artists
in the United States and Europe.

Contestant 1: Aika Tatebe
Aika Tatebe was born in Japan and began studying piano at the
age of six. Since then, she has been the recipient of many awards.
After graduating high school in Japan, she moved to the United States
to further her piano studies. At the University of Arizona she was
awarded second place (alternate) in the 39th Concerto Competition and
has twice been the recipient of the Michael Moore Memorial Prize for
best undergraduate performances in the Lois Trester Piano Competition.
Aika graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance
in 2014 and currently is pursuing a Master of Music degree at the
University of Arizona where she studies under Professor Tannis Gibson.
Contestant 2: Joshua Tan
Joshua Tan, a native of St. Paul, Minnesota, is currently pursuing
a Master of Music degree in piano performance at the University of
Arizona where he studies with Dr. John Milbauer. He currently serves
as a graduate teaching assistant in Class Piano for the Fred Fox
School of Music and holds a private teaching position at the Music
and Dance Academy in Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Tan received his
undergraduate degrees from the University of Houston in 2014,
graduating summa cum laude in piano performance and choral music
education, with teacher certification, under renowned pedagogue
Nancy Weems. His solo piano and chamber performances have taken
him to several music festivals including Masterworks, New Orleans
Piano Institute, Texas State and Chautauqua. In 2013, he was awarded
first prize at the MTNA Young Artist Competition for the State of Texas
and subsequently was selected as alternate winner in the MTNA
Division Competition.

Yi Qing Tang is a first-year candidate in the DMA program at the
University of Arizona where she studies with Dr. John Milbauer and
holds a teaching assistantship in piano. She earned her Master of Music
degree in piano performance with Dr. Sara Davis Buechner at the
University of British Columbia in 2012 after having completed her
undergraduate studies at the National University of Singapore with
Albert Tiu and at Brandon University in Canada with Megumi Masaki.
Yi Qing has been awarded numerous top prizes and scholarships,
including the Yamaha Scholarship of China, the Hong Kong Children’s
