Open
Hips
a Gina Wasserlein Workshop
Saturday
June 13th
Noon to 2 p.m.
“Tension can hold us back from experiencing
real Peace, Love and Happiness…”
Please join Gina as she leads us through yoga poses to release tight hips and
open our hearts. A deeper understanding will emerge from within and we will
gain clarity that tension and stress contribute to a closed heart.
As we touch all of these places in the body, we will feel what it is like to let
go of negative emotions such as resentment, anger, sadness, insecurity and
doubt. We will not be left with emptiness... there will be a feeling of lightness
embraced by love, acceptance, self-respect, kindness and strength.

Gina Wasserlein
A former elementary school teacher, fitness
instructor, trainer and competitor, Gina was
searching for more than just a ‘strong and fit’
outer body. She often found herself stressed,
tight and feeling like something was missing in
her life. Encouraged by a friend, she turned to
a Power Yoga video by Bryan Kest in 1998.
This was Gina’s first introduction to yoga, an
experience that would change the path of
her life for good.
After 6 months of a 5-day a week practice,
she knew she had to share the benefits of
yoga with as many people as she could.
Gina believed that everyone deserved to
feel this peaceful and happy inside and out.
She requested a leave of absence from the
school board and then committed to her
first 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in the
Sivananda tradition. From that moment, she
knew she would never return to teaching
in the school system. Instead, in 2002, Gina
began teaching yoga in Windsor, a decision
from which she would never look back.
Her desire for growth as both student and
teacher continued to develop, prompting
her to enroll in further trainings with such
renowned teachers as Cynthia Funk
(Ashtanga), Jonny Kest (Ashtanga/Slow
Flow), Seane Corn (Vinyasa), Christine
Felstead (Yoga for Runers), Yoga Buds
(Kids Yoga), Judith Lasater (Restorative
Yoga), as well as many more.
Gina’s 17 years of personal practice has
unquestionably evolved over the years. Just
over a year ago she had the privilege to
study with Daylene Christensen (authorized
Ashtanga Teacher by Sri. K Pattabhi Jois)
and it was she who became Gina’s first inspiration to embrace a dedicated practice.
Her commitment to the Ashtanga system
has had such a tremendously positive
impact on her personal life that she aims to
travel to India to train with the only teacher
empowered to authorize students to teach
this traditional system of yoga.
What allows Gina to progress as a teacher
and lead from the heart is her passion for
knowledge. She believes that every student
meets their teacher when they need to. It is
her hope to inspire others as much as she
herself has been inspired. She trusts that
transformation happens when students
commit to the practice and get on their
mat. At 43 years of age, she knows that she
is still a newborn in the world of teaching
and is continually excited about sharing
that enthusiasm with others.
In 2008 Gina taught the first 200 hour Yoga
Alliance Recognized Teacher Training in
Windsor and has taught many trainings and
workshops since then. She believes that if
more people study and practice yoga, in our
community, our community would become
healthier, happier and more positive. Since her
first training in 2008, Gina has taught 100’s of
students in her YTTC, many students take the
course to deepen their practice and others
to share the benefits of yoga as teachers.
Students come out of this program inspired
to live their best lives and make a positive
impact on those around them.
