NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 2, 2015 CRAIG CONNOLLY ELECTED NAPRA’S PRESIDENT FOR 2015-2016 TERM OTTAWA – Craig Connolly, representative for the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists (NSCP), was recently elected as the President of the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA). Mr. Connolly began his term as President on April 26, 2015 and will remain in the position for a period of one year, concluding on April 24, 2016. A member of NAPRA’s Board of Directors since 2011, Mr. Connolly previously held the position of Vice President for the 2014-2015 term. He continues to Chair the National Advisory Committee on Pharmacy Practice, a position he’s held since 2012. “NAPRA and its member pharmacy regulatory authorities form a critical component in the healthcare services provided by Canadian pharmacists and pharmacy technicians,” began Connolly. “Our role in the development of foundation documents, such as national standards and guidelines, is integral to the delivery of quality patient care and the protection of the public. Our Board will continue to strive for excellence in pharmacy regulation through our initiatives in the coming year.” Mr. Connolly obtained his pharmacy degree from Dalhousie University, College of Pharmacy in 2006 and began his new career as a relief pharmacist in Nova Scotia and later in Newfoundland and Labrador. However, very early in his pharmacy career, Mr. Connolly became the Pharmacy Manager for a Sobeys pharmacy in Halifax, a position he’s held for nearly 10 years. In the last five (5) years, Mr. Connolly returned to his alma mater in the capacity of Course Coordinator and Lecturer in Pharmacy Law and Ethics for first-year pharmacy students. In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Connolly has an extensive list of volunteer activities including his ongoing roles with Dalhousie University, College of Pharmacy and the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists. His dedication to the profession – both (--more--) NAPRA News Release –New NAPRA President 2. inside the pharmacy and out – led Mr. Connolly to receive a number of accolades over the years including the Dalhousie College of Pharmacy Alumnus of the Year (2011) and the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) New Practitioner of the Year (2011). Joining Mr. Connolly as NAPRA’s elected officers for 2015-2016 are Vice President Anjli Acharya (Alberta College of Pharmacists) and Linda Hensman (Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board). Tracy Wiersema (Ontario College of Pharmacists) automatically moves to the position of Past President following the completion of her term.
