DNA Samples
• Included is one envelope for each DNA sample kit:
It is recommended to take DNA (hair) samples from the switch (long hair at bottom of the tail) although DNA samples (hair)
may also be taken from the poll (top of head). DNA (hair) sample must contain the follicle (root). The follicle is contained on the end
of the hair at the point hair is removed from the tail switch or poll. This root is very small and appears or looks like a small gland or
tear. When taking the hair sample, the follicle must be attached to the majority of hair strand sample(s) for adequate testing.
•
•
Place only one sample in an envelope and seal it. Make sure you have the hair root!
Please make sure that the complete name of the exhibitor is in the return address area as well as the exhibitors mailing
address.
• If you wish to send in a number of samples in a larger envelope; Make sure that the individual samples are sealed in the
provided envelopes, that the name, DNA sample kit number and address of the exhibitor is on the outside before placing
them in a larger envelope to mail.
