About NCRD
The National Centre for Rural Development (NCRD) is a registered Public Charitable Trust, founded in
1991 with the mission of Rural Development. During the course of its various activities aimed at the
rural youth development, NCRD realized early on, that true rural development is not possible without
basic education for the rural folk, and hence NCRD entered the field of education about a decade ago. It
is now actively involved in post-graduate education, including Management education, Information
Technology & Pharmacy through “Sterling Institute of Management Studies” & “Sterling Institute of
Pharmacy”.
NCRD started its activity in education in 1993 with the establishment of a school in Ambegaon Taluka,
Pune district which was a very backward area. In the absence of industry, development was minimal
and schools were few and far.
One of NCRD's school, for example, is operating in a the remote area of this taluka from where it was
earlier a major task for the children to attend the school which was not only to cross the river but a
great distance by road.
NCRD set up an agricultural school offering courses in agriculture and dairy Industry to help the rural
youth. A large population of this taluka has migrated to the wholesale agricultural produce market at
Vashi. NCRD set up a Marathi school at Nerul, Navi Mumbai. This was followed by an English Medium
school and the Sterling Junior & Senior Colleges to cater to the needs of growing future youngsters.
Chairman's Message
Great personalities have contributed in building Maharashtra as a leading State
in India. The real tribute for them is to support and continue the good work done by
these great personalities. One of the most important reasons for Maharashtra State to be number one
state in the country is the very old tradition of education in Maharashtra.
There are many known & many unknown personalities in Maharashtra who are striving hard to
educate the children of farmers and place them high in the society.
I am very happy that I got an opportunity to be one of them. I established the Trust and Society
“National Centre for Rural Development” with the help of my friends, with main objective to work in
the field of education. When we started working we realized that very hard efforts are required to be
put in for achieving the goals. My all young friends worked with me, shoulder to shoulder, with utmost
sincerity and commitment. All the top organizations which are working in the field were the guide for
us. We followed their footprints and also learnt from their mistakes.
One of the most important assets of India is the large manpower with it. It becomes our topmost
priority and responsibility to develop this population into well educated, developed, self relying, and
confident manpower by providing them the best education.
The outcome that we envision will be a group of young individuals that will be healthy of mind and
body, well-learned, well equipped, and poised to create and take advantage of opportunities that will
enable them to be in the vanguard of the next generation. This is extremely important especially in the
context of the significant role that India is poised to play in a changing world order. Sterling School will
serve as the proving ground for a new generation of leaders and visionaries that will blaze a trail in the
next several years.
"Knowledge sharpens and learning improves an individual's overall competency"

Director's Message
The journey of the modern India has embarked on the great vision of economic liberalization. This has virtually
ensured the arrival of a new India in the global stage. Country has, since then, moved from economic freedom to
development and wealth creation, now proudly marching towards its destination of a developed nation. The
journey has not been easy, had its fare share of difficulties, but carried with great pain and resolve.
Today, we are at the threshold of achieving the nation's objective, and the answer lies very much in its youth
power. This has created immense scope and an increased requirement for well trained professionals to manage
the business effectively under this complex environment. Our objective is to develop professionals who can
lead and foster creativity and innovation in this dynamic system with a strong focus on value maximization and
profits. We, the management and the faculty at SIMS consider excellence is a drive within, and our desire to
excel is exclusive, which demands intellectual maturity, strength of purpose and willingness to work hard, are
the hallmark of SIMS seen throughout the academic year. Similarly, our objective of education is to generate
habits of rational thinking and prepare students to face the unfamiliar business situations, and acquire basic
domain knowledge in their specialization. At the same time, our interactive sessions will help the students to
ignite curiosity, organize and correlate facts, comprehend ideas and bring conceptual clarity for a creative use
of the knowledge acquired at the industry level. We strongly believe that a combination of both efforts will
produce a unique breed of management graduates from SIMS.
