YEAH! It's May! and the Council's
85th Anniversary! The Council was
started in May, 1930 by Needham
residents to help their neighbors
with food supports during the
difficult days
of the Depression.
Senator Leslie Cutler was
President of the Council Board
for 35 years
...here she is at her retirement party
in 1970.
In 1980 The Council's 50th anniversary was celebrated
with an entire local newspaper section which one our
our volunteers recently brought to us....what a treasure!
It's also Mothers' Day, graduations and the start of
outdoor events...we made it through a tough winter!
So many ways you can help support the Council this
month and throughout the summer.
June, July and August are hard months to keep our Food
Pantry shelves full - this month's Postal Workers Food
Drive helps us stock up for the summer and donation
bins at both Sudbury Farms and Rosemary Pool are great
places to leave non-perishable food items for the
Council.
MAKE A TRIBUTE DONATION TO THE COUNCIL
for an upcoming special event...a thoughtful way to
honor your mother, graduate, anniversary, wedding
or other celebration....we will send your honoree an
acknowlegement of your donation. Visit our website at
www.needhamcommunitycouncil.org to donate online or
send a check with the tribute's contact information to us
at 570 Hillside Ave., Needham, MA, 02494
