Creating Engaging Course Materials Programme
The Creating Engaging Course Materials
Programme is designed to improve colleagues’
digital practice skills, confidence and competence
in creating relevant and engaging digital course
materials.
The programme will provide you with an
opportunity to:

explore some of the common tools
used to generate course materials.

ways in which digital practice tools can be
utilised to enhance course materials to
make them more engaging to students and
other course participants.

new ways of creating engaging course
materials by introducing the concepts of
Creative Commons and Open Educational
Resources.

explore how you might be able to utilise
Open Educational Resources in your course
materials.
Introducing Open Badges
What modules are there?
CPLD will recognise your participation on a
Creating Engaging Course Materials Programme
module with an Open Badge. An Open Badge (or
digital badge) is an online representation of a
skill you have earned.
You can complete these modules in any order.
Each one will be supported by a range of
resources, including online materials.
Open Badges can be stored in a free Mozilla
digital backpack or displayed on social media.

Two-hour Facilitated Workshops
On completing participation in
the programme and successful
submission of the assignment
you will receive the Creating
Engaging Course Materials
Programme badge.

What will I get out of it?
The Creating Engaging Course Materials
Programme is a flexible blended programme
delivered as 6 two-hour facilitated class-room
based modules with a final formative assignment.
The assignment will be an online submission of
adapted course materials demonstrating
achievement of the programme learning
outcomes.
The programme will enable you to:
If you choose to complete the full programme we
recommend attending all of the modules within a
two year time frame. If you have already
attended any of the modules within the last two
years, it will not be necessary to attend those
modules again.
The programme modules can also be accessed as
stand-alone events and you are welcome to
attend them individually if you do not wish to
complete the full programme.

using a range of multimedia tools

Create sophisticated reports or
presentations including multimedia
elements

Search and find learning materials
including Open Educational Resources

including Creative Commons resources
using appropriate repositories.
