The New York Junior Tennis & Learning Scholarship Committee will award $4,000 in scholarships to 4 scholar athletes who have an outstanding academic record, a passion for tennis, and demonstrate an aspiration toward being an exemplary scholar athlete. This scholarship program is made possible by the generosity of NYJTL Board of Director Members Tory Kiam and Bob Horne, in honor of Tory’s father Victor, author of book Going For It!: How to Succeed As an Entrepreneur. Eligible scholar athletes are graduating seniors who are accepted to a full-­‐time collegiate program. Each individual will receive a $1,000 scholarship paid directly to the Bursar’s office of the educational institution. This is a one-­‐time award of $1,000. Each scholar athlete will also receive a copy of Going For It! Eligibility: Residents of New York City; Seniors in high school; NYJTL Participant; Admitted to a college for Fall 2015 Financial hardship as demonstrated by FAFSA submission is a consideration for selection, but not the sole criteria for selection as a scholarship award winner. Important factors for selection include an outstanding high school academic record; passion for tennis and a desire for public service expressed in an attached essay. As a first year student you must attend a college full-­‐time following high school graduation or the entire scholarship will be forfeited. An acceptance letter is needed. Scholarship monies will be applied over the first two semesters. 2. Amount you receive from this scholarship can only be used for tuition and fees required for enrollment or attendance at the educational institution or for books, supplies and equipment for courses of instruction. 3. Once a college or university is chosen, the scholar must indicate that this is the institution of higher learning that he/she will be attending. Scholarship monies will be paid directly to the institution.
