On Tuesday, our school swimming team competed in the Beachside
Division swimming carnival. Congratulations to all the children who
represented our school so well.
This Tuesday, 24th March, we will be having our ‘evening’ School Tour
from 6pm-7pm. This is a great opportunity for all the parents who
work during the day to take a look at our school.
Just a reminder to check in with your child’s classroom teacher
regarding their Fete stall. There are still some classes that don’t have
Fete Co-ordinators and enough help. The Fete is held each year to
provide funds that are invested back into your child’s education.
Have a great weekend

When working out your child’s Age Group, ask yourself, “ What age will my child be on their birthday this year? “
The course is different to last year. The children will begin and finish on the main oval, with the middle section run in the
laneway beside the school and the golf course. All children will have run the course before next week.
Please encourage your child to wear “House colours“ on Monday and that they run in appropriate footwear.
Children who finish in the Top 10 – 12 runners in their age group will be invited to continue in Mr Rowe’s running club.
The fittest and strongest 9 children, who have been attending Mr Rowe’s running club will be selected to run for the
school at the District Cross Country Championships on Tuesday 19th of May.

WORKING BEE
You are all invited to a Working Bee at school on Friday 20th March.
Please meet Andrew and Lisa at the front of the hall @ 9.00am.
We’re just doing some general gardening and tidying up, so it would be appreciated if you brought your own
hand tools, gardening gloves etc. to assist.
Morning tea will be provided.
Looking forward to seeing as many helpers as possible.

Getting involved - Sport outside of school time
AUSKICK
Auskick is run at Oakleigh South Primary School every Saturday morning throughout the football
season. It caters to children from Prep to Year 6.
Auskick is a fun based skill development program that welcomes all children and teaches them at
their own level.
One of the great things about being a parent is getting your child involved in a sport outside of
school. The obvious benefits for your child include greater fitness, improved fine motor skills and
the social aspect of participating with other children.
As a parent you’ll have a greater connection with your child’s activities and it’s a great way to meet
other parents, away from the school environment.
Auskick teaches the basic skills of AFL football (kicking, handballing, marking and bouncing).
Football is one of the sports where you need to develop the skills, before you can play the game.
All the children in Grade 5 & 6 at OSPS that represent the school in Football have all gone through
the Auskick program, before going onto Junior Football.
You’ll notice posters around the school advertising Auskick (beginning at Prep level).
Get your child involved! Please see information below.
I will promote other sport over the coming weeks.

School Banking Update
We are off to a FANTASTIC start with a number of students opening new accounts.
Have you opened yours yet?
What you need to send into school:
 Yellow banking wallet containing:
 Completed deposit slip and receipt tab
 Correct Money (incorrect deposits will be returned and not processed)

10 tokens and Reward request if claiming a reward
We will allocate your child a Student Number when we add them to the student database so if you are new,
leave this blank.
Bankbooks are returned to your children during class time. Please approach your teacher if you have not
received your book back.
Please note we cannot answer requests for account balances. Please contact your bank for this information.
THE NEXT TWO WEEKS ARE BONUS DEPOSIT WEEKS!!!
If your child would like to bump up their tokens so they can claim a term one reward of a Planet Handball or
ET DVD, feel free to send in up to three completed deposit forms for the next TWO WEEKS ONLY. Rewards
have been known to sell out so first in is always best dressed.
Term two rewards are:
 Invisible Ink Martian Pen
 Intergalactic Rocket Ball
To claim a reward, please send in 10 tokens and your choice of reward. Rewards cards were sent out at the
start of the term in the “Welcome to banking” packs. Please let us know if you need a Reward Card.
Calling for volunteers – we need your help!
Thanks to Lori (mum of Maliah, Prep JF) who answered our call for volunteers last week. We still need more
volunteers so please let us know if you can help.
School Banking day is MONDAY each week and we process the deposits in the morning between 9:15am and
11:30am.
Please indicate your interest in volunteering for this great program by sending an email to the school email
address oakleigh.south.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au Please include your phone or mobile number and child’s name
and grade.
HAPPY BANKING!
