The Parishioners of Our Lady Queen of Peace, WELCOMES YOU!!!
People who have experienced the presence of Christ during a visit to church are often uncertain as to what it
all means or what they should do next. We want to assure you that the answer to these concerns will come
if you open yourself to the Holy Spirit’s movement.
You may feel a deep desire to come to Mass again, but you may not be sure you’re ready to join
a parish.
That’s okay! The most important thing is to come and experience the grace of God’s everlasting love.

Tuition Assistance for Notre Dame Students
Our parish offers tuition assistance
for ND families in need.
The following are the requirements for this assistance:
•Those families who apply for assistance must have
applied for the Bishop’s Scholarship Fund. The FACT
Report that we receive from the Notre Dame Finance
office will greatly assist us in determining families
in need of financial assistance. If you feel you need
financial assistance for tuition to attend Notre Dame
Schools, we must have your information from that
report. The school will provide each individual family
their report. The report will show the financial need and
also the percentage of “relatively needier” families. If
the report does not show a financial need please
do not apply.
•Assistance will be limited to students in 5K through
Grade 12.
•Those families who apply for assistance should be
participants in their parish through their “Time - Talent
- Treasure”. Again, if we do not have records to prove
this we will not be able to provide tuition assistance.
•Those applying must request assistance in writing
to the parish office by letter or email to Fr. Sojan or
Deacon Jim (see bulletin cover for email address). For
more information call the church office.
These requirements are in place so that we can offer
as much assistance as possible and be consistent in
our policies of assistance. Deadline: June 30, 2015.

The Great Gift of Jesus
Remember the special supper
Jesus had in the upper room
The Last Supper he would have
Before he would be laid in the tomb.
He told his friends to gather
And to make sure they prepared
A table fixed with bread and wine
And arranged with special care.
The apostles followed Jesus’ instructions
And gathered upstairs
And soon Jesus joined them.
And all reclined at table there.
Jesus gave them his Body and Blood
From the prepared bread and wine.
He wanted to be their very food
At the table where they dined.
Jesus comes to us in his Body and Blood
in the Holy Eucharist. Today is the Feast
of the Lord’s Body and Blood. Let us thank
Him for this great gift.

Divorced and Re-married?
If you are divorced and remarried outside of the Catholic Church without
a Decree of Invalidity, or if you are married outside of the Catholic
Church, you may not partake of the Sacraments, including the reception
of Holy Communion. Until it is shown otherwise through the ministry of
the Tribunal, no person is free to enter into another marriage without the
appearance or occasion of serious sin. A divorce alone would not affect,
or hinder in any way, your participation in the Catholic Church. A divorced
Catholic is free to receive the sacraments. However, if you are divorced
and have remarried, or if you are divorced and in a new relationship, or if
you are living with someone without a Decree of Invalidity (and your former
spouse is still living) you may not partake of the sacraments, including the
reception of Holy Communion).
Consider seeking a Decree of Invalidity which will enable you to return
to a full participation in the sacramental life of the Church. For more
information contact Deacon Larry Bills at the Church office at 696-1253.

OLQP Catholic Church, Wichita Falls, Tx
Today, the second Sunday after
Pentecost, we celebrate a second
solemnity, which marks our return to
Ordinary Time. Today is the Solemnity of
the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.
At one time, this day was called Corpus
Christi, Latin for “the Body of Christ.” In
the most recent revision of the liturgy,
the name for this day is expanded to
be a more complete reflection of our
Eucharistic theology.
The feeding of the 5,000 is the only
one of Jesus’ miracles to appear in all four
Gospels. Luke places it between Herod’s
question, “Who is this about whom I hear
such things?” and Peter’s response to Jesus’ question about who he thought Jesus
was: “You are the Messiah of God.” In Luke the feeding is not the result of Jesus’
compassion for the crowd but is instigated by the disciples. They wanted Jesus to
send the crowd away to town. Instead Jesus tells the disciples to give them some
food on their own.
The passage is meant to remind us of two feedings in the Old Testament: the
feeding of the Israelites in the desert and Elisha’s feeding of 100 people with 20
loaves in 2 Kings 4:42-44. It is also connected to the institution of the Eucharist. As
in the Last Supper accounts in Matthew, Mark, and Luke and in Paul’s account in 1
Corinthians 11:23-24, Jesus takes bread, looks up to heaven, blesses the bread,
breaks it, and then gives it to the disciples. In using this exact language, Luke is
reminding his readers that in this miracle Jesus is doing more than feeding hungry
people as God did for the Israelites and the prophet Elisha did as well. The bread he
gives is his body, which he will continue to give as often as the community breaks
bread in remembrance of him in the Eucharist.

Growing in Faith
GOOD NEWS!
TENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (B)
Ex 24:3-8 / Heb 9:11-15 / Mk 14:12-16, 22-26
I used to dream about the kind of house I would live in when I grew up. I
wanted gracious, rooms, a large kitchen, a family room and—for reasons
passing understanding—I wanted a stream running through the house with a
waterfall somewhere in it. The house I actually live in was more than 100 years
old when we bought it. It needed a boiler, a roof, and a new bathroom within the
first year.
The rooms were small; the kitchen had no drawers. There were no closets
on the first floor. But it was ours and we raised our family in it. The smallness of
the house did not seem to matter to our children’s school friends who regularly
visited, knew they could call us if there was an emergency, and could count
on a full bowl of fruit salad (strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, and grapes) in the
refrigerator.
It would have been easy to have complained about the difference between
the dream and the reality. My husband and I might have argued about getting a
bigger home. But we realized that “home” was not about the building; it was—
and is—about the community and relationships inside.
Had the love not been there, we might have even become divided over the
flaws. I like to think that our marriage and family were blessed with the grace to
see what was important. I know that in a world of poverty, we were privileged.
But I believe that having each other and sharing our faith was our strength and our
foundation, and would have been even if we had lost everything.

Dear Padre
What do we do if we see the Communion host on the floor?
What should I do if see a piece of host on the floor? What do I do if I drop
the host? Sometimes after Holy Communion is given out, I see pieces of the
consecrated host on the floor. Is it OK to eat them? And what about receiving holy
Communion with chewing gum in one’s mouth?
Eating the pieces is one option. However, it might be hard to distinguish
between pieces of a host, lint, or dust. So a better option is to talk to your pastor.
If he thinks there is an issue, then he could have someone take the particles into
the sacristy and put them in a container of water, allowing them to dissolve and
then wash them down the sacrarium, a sink that goes directly into the ground. If
he does not think there is an issue, be obedient to his decision. That brings us to
your second question. It is not respectful to chew gum when one is receiving Holy
Communion. Receiving Holy Communion demands our respect and reverence. It
requires our fullest attention.
If a person were about to eat a fine meal with gum in his mouth, the cook
would be insulted. In the same way, how much more important and “delicious” is
the sweetness of the Lord (Psalm 34:8)?
