SHOW SYNOPSIS
A relaxing weekend trip full of fishing, football, and beer is on the agenda for the
Melville brothers. So is confronting eldest brother Lee’s terminal illness. But their trip is
thrown for a loop when the boys meet two attractive sisters who inadvertently change
more than their weekend plans. In this modern Canadian classic, Norm Foster offers a
tender comedy full of vigour about brotherhood and the unexpected.

CASTING INFORMATION
Character
Lee Melville
Owen Melville
Mary
Loretta
Description
20’s to 30’s. Gave up his career aspirations to help run the family
plastics family after the death of his father. He is a methodical
and introspective person who is struggling to deal with his recent
diagnosis of terminal cancer. He wants to spend a quiet weekend
truly connecting with his younger brother, perhaps for their last
time at the cottage.
20’s. Irrepressibly outgoing younger brother to Lee. He is engaged
to be married. He lives very much in the moment and is in denial
of the seriousness of Lee’s medical condition. He wants to spend
a fun weekend with no strings attached. He is impetuous and
flirtatious.
20’s to 30’s. Lonely elder sister to Loretta. She’s been stuck in a
rut since her husband deserted her (taking her car!) She is rather
tightly-wound, behaving herself to the point of self-sacrifice. She,
like Lee, is introspective.
early 20’s. Ambitious, flirtatious younger sister of Mary. She sees
herself as a television actress on the strength of her one TV
advertisement (for a used car dealer). She knows what she wants
and will get it.
