Page 2 of 17 This Week at PCHS—Monday, April 13, 2015 Nature High Summer Camp
We are currently recruiting for participants for the 24th annual Nature High Summer Camp!
July 27-August 1, 2015
This is an amazing interagency program that gets Utah high school students into the woods to try their hand at
Natural Resource careers. They spend a week in the beautiful Manti-La Sal National Forest learning about natural
resource agencies, and service to the land. The cost is only $50 to attend (which includes housing, food and
supplies for the entire week). To see more about what the camp entails, watch this fun promotional video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmIy5MvQD7c&feature=youtu.be Your Utah Your Future Survey and Donation Program
Park City High School has been registered in a survey asking Utahns across the state to make choices based on
what they want Utah to be like in the year 2050. The results will be used to create a vision for the state that will be
a guide to policymakers, local governments, businesses, developers, and all of us as prepare for the future.
The Community Scholarship Program could raise $1 for every student, parent, staff member and community
member that completes this survey. The money will go toward the Community Scholarship Program for our
seniors. We could raise up to $5,000. The survey is online Thursday, April 2nd at envisionutah.org Make sure
to complete the survey on thursday or the funds may run out.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
PCHS All-Sports Physicals for the 2015-16 School Year will be held on Tuesday, May 19th from 5:00-7:00 pm in
the PCHS gymnasium.
There is no charge for the physical, but a $20 donation is appreciated to help with PCHS sports medicine
expenses.
* Beginning in the 2015-16 school year and going forward, physicals will only be good until the end of the school
year, so it is a good idea to utilize the PCHS All-Sports Physicals date on May 19th.
Physicals done during the 2014-15 school year -- no matter the date -- will not carry over to next school year (the
best time to have the physical done will be between the last week of May and the beginning of fall sports).

Page 5 of 17 This Week at PCHS—Monday, April 13, 2015 Please Donate to the Community Scholarship Fund for 2015 Seniors
2015 is our 28th year of helping Park City students achieve their college dreams. We continue to have a strong
need to recognize seniors as well as provide much needed scholarship funds.
For many of our students the cost of college is a stretch. Our students do a great job balancing academics,
involvement activities, work and the college and scholarship application process. We have many first
generation students attending college and many who struggle to meet the basic necessities. Your scholarship
gift will go towards college tuition. If you are interested, please call Heather Briley, PCHS Scholarship
Advisor435-645-5650 ext. 2085 or email hbriley@pcschools.us by March 15th. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE SIGNED UP!
Do you ever shop at Smith’s? Then make sure you sign up for their Community Rewards program. PCHS can earn
money every time you use your card. YOU MUST RE-ENROLL EVERY JANUARY! It’s free and last year the PTSO
received over $1500 from the store – this is a great, easy way to help out your school. The purchases you make in no way
affect any other points you may be earning for fuel or other programs. If you have a Smith’s reward card you can re-enroll by
visiting the Smith’s website at www.smithscommunityrewards.com and follow the simple directions! Thank you for helping
Park City High School.

SENIOR PARENTS!
th
Congratulations! Your child is well on their way to graduating from Park City High School on Friday, June 5 !
We need your help now to throw an unforgettable party to celebrate their success!
Park City High School PTSO has had the honor of planning and implementing of the Grad Night Celebration tradition for many years. th
This year, Grad Night will be held at Jupiter Bowl, on the evening of graduation, June 5 , from 10pm to 2am. While PTSO lines up the necessary volunteers it takes to stage a large party such as this, we rely on senior parents to make monetary donations necessary to cover the cost of this party. Turnout at the Grad Night party ranges from 80-‐85% of the graduating class. It is a fun, very lively graduation bash where our kids can celebrate one final time as the PCHS Class of 2015 in a safe, drug-‐and alcohol-‐free atmosphere! All funds raised are used to pay for the party venue (Jupiter Bowl), entertainment (bowling, billiards, ping-‐pong, arcade and casino games, hypnotist, TapSnap, magician, DJ), and food & beverages. We give a swag bag containing small gifts and coupons as well as prizes and cash giveaways throughout the evening, also funded by parent donations and donations we receive from community businesses. The cost of the party runs around $9000, but everything is absolutely free to the kids! Please consider a donation and mail a check to the address below. We would appreciate donations ASAP so that the PTSO can move forward with the planning of the event and the booking of entertainment. All donations are tax deductible. Donations made through th
April 15 will be entered in a drawing where five names will be chosen at random to each receive four reserved seats on the track at Dozier Field track during the graduation ceremony. Please send in the bottom of this letter with your donation so that we can enter you in the drawing and send you the tax receipt. If you have any questions, contact Marie Jackson 801-‐560-‐9518.
Thank you very much for your generosity!

Underage Drinking Prevention
Boundaries
Page 7 of 17 This Week at PCHS—Monday, April 13, 2015 It is important that your kids know why you don’t want them to drink. Explain how underage alcohol can
change how their adolescent brain develops and cause brain damage. Make sure to establish
consequences for breaking the rules and consistently enforce them.
