Dismissal at Noon 802-592-3513 Principal’s Corner Dear Peacham families and friends, The big news this week is the passage of VT House Bill 361 governing the educational structure and funding of Vermont schools. As soon as the dust settles we’ll have a better idea of the direct impact on our school. The next regular School Board meeting is Monday, June 8th at 5:30pm. It would be a good one to attend for specific PES impacts. In the meantime, we continue to work on updating the PES strategic goals based on current VT Education Quality Standards, CCSU goals, and the community goals outlined in the 2012 Community Dialogue Themes document. A group of veterans of the former town-wide process is meeting with me and some new community folks to draft a proposed document that will satisfy the requirements of the new VT Education Quality Review Process. This process will create a document to guide decisions for the next few years at PES. It will be known as the Continuous Improvement Plan (rather than the Strategic Plan or Action Plan). To make sure that our group work represents all stakeholders in the Peacham community, we will hold a Community Forum on June 2 at the School for feedback on major themes and goals for our school. Please take the time to double check the Upcoming Events dates and times for the next few weeks and mark your calendars. We are going to be so busy that the last weeks of school will fly by. Along with all these fun culminating trips and events we are in the midst of end-of-year assessments in all grades in all content areas. Phew. The Peacham Farmer Market begins soon. Watch for Peacham students from the ELO program there selling products as part of our economics and community connections work. I hear there will be some excellent zucchini bread and other goodies sold to support student activities. Stop by our table and say, “Hi!” Onward and upwards, Judy Ross July 6-Aug. 7 Summer ELO at Danville Our Mission: The Peacham Elementary School is a community of learners and teachers dedicated to developing . the ability of each individual to think and communicate clearly, to explore the world, to make responsible decisions, and to have concern for the common good.
