SUNY COBLESKILL FIGHTING TIGER
WEEKLY RECAP 4/13/15
The SUNY Cobleskill women’s softball team swept
three games during the week to move to the top of
the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) North
Division. The Fighting Tigers opened the week with a
17-9 road win on Wednesday over SUNY Purchase
Panthers before returning home to sweep the
Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute in conference
action by scores of 10-7 and 11-3. Junior pitcher/first
baseman Erin Wadsworth, Valatie, N.Y. Ichabod
Crane High School, led the Orange & Black during
the week hitting .455 with two home runs and six RBI
while picking up a win and a save in two
appearances on the mound posting a 1.40 ERA in 10
innings of work striking out 12 and walking four as
the team improved to 8-1 overall including a 4-0
mark in league play.
Sophomore sprinter Winston Lee, Hudson, N.Y.,
Hudson High School, was the men’s outdoor track &
field team’s top performer at the 2015 Coach “P”
Invitational hosted by Moravian College in
Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday. Lee won the 100-meter
dash in a time of 10.70 seconds to establish a new
program record and meet both the Eastern College
Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Outdoor
Track & Field Championship Qualifying Standard as
well as the New York State College Track
Conference (NYSCTC) Outdoor Championship
Automatic Qualifying Standard in the event.
The women’s outdoor track & field team competed at
the 2015 Coach “P” Invitational hosted by Moravian
College in Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday. The Fighting
Tigers top performer at the meet was senior Emily
Belewich, Ava, N.Y., Adirondack High School, who
placed 19th in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of
1:14.36.
Sophomore Ian Wilson, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.,
Spackenkill High School, placed second for the
Fighting Tiger men’s golf team at the 2015 SUNY
Delhi Invitational hosted by SUNY Delhi at the par
70/6348 yard Brynwood Golf & Country Club in
Armonk, N.Y. over the weekend posting rounds of 82
and 76 for a two-day total of 158. Cobleskill finished
second overall versus the five-team field with a
tournament total score of 664.
The Fighting Tigers men’s lacrosse team suffered a
pair of road losses during the week falling on
Wednesday afternoon to Hartwick College 12-4 in
non-league action then losing at Keuka College in
NEAC play on Saturday by a score of 16-4 to fall to
3-7 overall including a 1-3 record in conference play.
Junior Troy Rossi, Neversink Valley, N.Y., Tri-Valley
High School, scored three goals and picked up nine
ground balls during the week for Cobleskill.
