Perceptron Inc. 47827 Halyard Drive • Plymouth, Michigan 48170 • Phone 734-414-6100 • Fax 734-414-4700 POSITION DESCRIPTION: As a Perceptron Production Automation Engineer, you will develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and machinery to reduce cost and improve quality and delivery, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality standards. The Production Automation Engineer duties may include: Use structured problem solving for root cause analysis of manufacturing problems. Conduct data analyses and data driven manufacturing improvements. Perform regular calibration and preventative maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization. Utilize quality tools and techniques to continually analyze and improve operational processes and procedures. Confer with Manufacturing Engineering team regarding product design and tooling requirements to ensure efficient production methods. Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, refine procedures, finalize fixtures, training team members and evaluating results. Develop or revise standard operational and working procedures and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards. Contribute to the development, acquisition, assembly, installation, and implementation of improved or new manufacturing equipment or processes. Resolve problems with product, process, equipment, and tooling. Utilize engineering software to create process documents/drawings to develop production processes and equipment to assemble, test & calibrate the product. Ensure installed manufacturing equipment and manufacturing procedures comply with safety and environmental requirements. Ensure corporate test equipment is calibrated to quality standards. Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards. Develop structured problem solving tools for production troubleshooting Candidate Requirements: Minimizing interruption of production flow when issues arise. Providing factual data to support regular work status meetings. Timely completion of production equipment innovations to support new product releases. Passing of ISO audits of Production area. Additional Desired Skills: BSET, BSEE, or BSME plus 3+ years of experience supporting a production team. Microsoft Office applications knowledge required. Familiarity with the low to medium production of electro-optic assemblies.
