Job Description: Part Time Director of Finance at Phoenix Collegiate Academy Phoenix Collegiate Academy serves the students of the South Mountain Village area. Our mission is to prepare all students to succeed in college and be leaders in our community. In the 2015-2016 school year we will serve 1st through 12th grade students. We know that rigorous academics, a structured environment, and an attitude of high expectations will ensure the students we are serving close the existing achievement gap. Reporting to the COO, the Director of Finance will define the financial need and financial systems/process to support substantial growth in PCA's next phases, which include building a third campus. S/he will continue to build and manage effective and streamlined administrative/financial systems, including financial reporting, campus budgeting, long-term projecting and accounting infrastructure. As a member of the senior management team, the director will be involved in strategic planning, evaluation, and professional development initiatives, as well as planning for PCA’s expansion to a new site. In keeping with PCA’s values, the director will also interact with students as a mentor. It is anticipated this role will work twenty hours per week. Specific responsibilities include: Review and approve preparation and finalization of monthly and annual financial reporting materials and metrics for governing board. Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for administration, existing programs, and proposed new site. Manage outsourced accounting company. Coordinate all audit activities. Serve as a business partner to the COO on the organization’s financial, and budgeting with an eye to continuously developing and improving systems. Develop and lead a budget process for all PCA campuses; provide direction to all budget managers about total funds available; ensure that PCA's budget is sustainable, at the network and site level. Qualifications: The Director of Finance will have at least five to eight years of professional experience, including managing the finance and administration of a high-growth $5 million to $15 million organization (preference given to Email pca@phxca.org | Phone 602.268.9900 | Web www.phxca.org | 5610 S. S/he will have experience creating and driving the analytic framework for planning and managing organizational knowledge in a highly entrepreneurial organization. The Director of Finance and administration will have the following experience and attributes: Bachelor’s degree (MA/MBA preferred) or significant coursework in Finance or Accounting. Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team. Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in charter schools. Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development. Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems. Proven effectiveness leading professionals in finance and accounting. Technologically savvy, with an ability to point to examples of having developed and implemented new processes and systems that increased efficiency in a fast-moving environment. Flexible and a self-starter; able to multi-task while also being highly detail-oriented. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to PCA's mission.
