Jesus Christ and to visit major shrines in Italy. Pope Francis announced his
pilgrimage to see the Shroud of Turin. At the same time, the Archdiocese of
Turin announcee the display will coincide he 200th anniversary in 2015 of the
birth of St. John Bosco, the founder of the Salesians. The theme for the 2015
display: “The greatest love.” The Holy Father stated that the Holy Shroud of
Turin “will provide an appropriate moment to contemplate that mysterious face
which silently speaks to the hearts of men, inviting them to recognize therein the
face of God.” The Shroud is kept in Church of St. John the Baptist, the
Cathedral of Turin.
Unlike a tour, a pilgrimage is a personal spiritual experience. This pilgrimage
will be instrumental in helping you grow closer to the Lord, Our Lady and the
Saints. It will give you a good insight on some of the history of our Catholic
Church.
The pilgrimage will also include a visit to Castelnouvo, the birthplace of St.
John Bosco near Turin; as well as Assisi, Cascia and Rome. Imagine walking
the ancient walled city of Assisi in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi.
Imagine praying before the Tomb of St. Rita of Cascia and seeing the
Eucharistic Miracle of Cascia? We will be present to hear the Holy Father Pope
Francis give a meditation and receive His Apostolic Blessing at a general
audience in Rome. There is so much more! Daily Mass, daily scripture reading,
meditations and opportunities to see the beautiful sacred art, church history and
various sites in Italy are an important part of this journey of faith. This
pilgrimage will not only benefit you as a pilgrim, but your loved ones and
friends as well. Consider making this spiritual investment!
