History Hunters Around Atlanta (Boys & Girls)
Five full days of fun! Each day, history hunters will meet up with veteran history teacher Mrs. Howard at Pinecrest
Academy and then head out to explore such intriguing local sites as The Carlos Museum, the Carter Center, the
Renaissance Festival, The Cyclorama and Civil War Museum, the Martin Luther King National Historic Site, and the
William Bremen Jewish Heritage Museum. Throw in picnic lunches every day and stops at two historical
cemeteries, and it promises to be a week of summer fun to remember –in more ways than one!

Study Smart: A Study Skills Camp (Boys & Girls)
This camp is designed to help students with their study skills as they enter into, or have already finished, their first
year of High School. Study Smart is educational, yet engaging and entertaining. The program will enhance your
students’ self-worth, increase their motivation, and provide the foundation for successful study skills such as:
positive thinking, organization, remembering, note taking, procrastination, setting goals, study habits, identifying
their learning styles, and successful test taking.

History Hunters Further Afield (Boys & Girls)
Spend the week exploring history with some slightly farther day trips that will take you south to Fairburn, GA for
the Renaissance Festival, north to the border of Tennessee for the Chicamauga Civil War Battlefield and Museum,
and west to the Etowah Indian Burial Mounds. To the east, you’ll visit the Fernbank Museum/IMAX and the
Atlanta History Center. Travel through time from dinosaurs to princesses to the Civil War and have a summer
week of fun to remember!

Start the summer off right by learning the skills needed to be a safe, prepared, and fun babysitter. Babysitter Boot
Camp teaches infant and child safety, basic life saving skills (including adult/child CPR, signs of choking, and First
Aid). Learn to activate and call your Emergency Response Number (“911”). PLUS brainstorm suggestions and ideas
on age appropriate toys and games.

This goal of this camp is to teach the proper techniques for throwing, catching, tackling and blocking. Campers are
instructed by the Varsity Football staff and will also be mentored by some of Pinecrest’s senior football players. At
the end of a fun-filled week, each camper will receive a t-shirt. (Note: This is not a contact camp.)

Learn how to pass, set, hit and serve during this dynamic volleyball skills camp. Campers will be taught the basics
of this interactive sport, with emphasis on proper technique. Drills will be fun, active, and progressive. Game play

Forsyth Middle School Contact Football Camp (Boys)
Campers will have the opportunity to participate in a full contact camp focusing on individual player development.
The week’s focus will be on learning position specific techniques on both offense and defense. Video analysis will
be used to show each camper their progress throughout the week. For skilled players, 7 on 7 games will allow
each player to display their gains throughout the week. Offensive and defensive lineman will be challenged with
1 on 1 pass rush drills and all interior players will participate in inside run drills. Campers will be instructed by the
Varsity football staff as well as a select collegiate coach. Each youth player will also be mentored by some of
Pinecrest’s senior football players. At the end of a football packed week, each camper will receive a t-shirt.

The Fencing Camp is a great way to get acquainted with fencing, and will include basic and in-depth instruction.
This is a great way to learn new skills and practice strategy. No experience is necessary and equipment will be
provided for new fencers. Experienced fencers are also welcome and should bring their fencing equipment.

Let’s Act – ACTING FOR FILM (Boys & Girls)
ACTING FOR FILM provides campers the opportunity to work with a director and film maker in the process of
creating a short film. Led by Film Makers Sean Klooster (NYU Tisch) and actress Mary Claire Klooster, each camper
will experience a week of “life on set” while participating in the making of a short film. Campers will take part in
various aspects of film production depending on interest (script writing, rehearsing, acting, filming, editing, etc. . .)
Campers may focus on acting for film or working behind the camera. Camp will conclude with a “Red Carpet”
premier of the film, planned for Friday evening, allowing time to complete editing. Campers will also receive a
copy of the film.

Clay Camp (Boys & Girls)
Students will be introduced to working with clay and understanding its properties. They will learn the basics by
creating pinch, coil, and slab methods of pottery construction. Students will become familiar with the roles of
technique, form, and function in ceramics. This class is for beginners and for those familiar with hand built
pottery. Students will construct compostions appropriate for their skill and age level, and glaze their own work.
(Please note - the same camp is offered for two separate weeks, however if a camper would like to attend both
weeks he/she will be working on a differnet project the second week.)

Sing, Sing, Sing! (Boys and Girls)
Do you like to sing? Then this camp is perfect for you! Campers will work throughout the week improving their
voices and knowledge of music. Students will prepare solo pieces of their choice to perform for the Friday concert.
In addition, this is an opportunity to sing with a large group of fellow vocalists to learn and perform a variety of
choral pieces. Music activities and games will be played throughout the week, and singers will work on vocal
techniques, harmony, musicianship, expression, and more. Be sure to come enjoy these amazing singers at their
concert at noon on Friday.

Middle School Summer Band Camp (June 15 – 19th)
The Middle School Sumer Camp is open to all rising middle school band students with at least one academic year
of experience on their instrument. Current 8th graders may choose either the middle school or high school camp,
or may attend both. Our clinician this year is Dr. Jason Worzbyt from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The
camp meets from 9:00AM-4:00PM, Monday-Friday. There will be a final concert on Friday at 7:00PM. Registration
includes instruction, activities, snacks, and a T shirt (Note: Please register separately for this event on the

High School Summer Band Camp (June 22 – 26th )
The High School Summer Camp is open to all rising high school band students or graduating seniors who would like
one last band opportunity before heading off to college. Our clinician this year is Gary Green, Director of Bands at
the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. It is ranked in the top 20 music schools in the United States. The
camp meets from 9:00AM-4:00PM, Monday-Friday. There will be a final concert on Friday at 7:00PM. Registration

Mod Design Camp (Boys & Girls)
Have you ever wanted to add something new to Minecraft®? In this camp, students will learn the basics of Java
while modifying the popular game Minecraft®. Students will conceptualize, design and code their own custom Mod
using Java, one of the most widely used programming languages today! Students will learn how to create their
own Blocks, Items, Mods, and more over the course of the camp. They will use Eclipse SDK and other tools to
quickly modify and edit the code of the game. Students will also explore the world of graphic design as they create
their own skins/textures for their mods. At the end of camp, students will be able download and share their Mod

3D Game Design Camp (Boys & Girls)
In this camp, students will create their own 3D Video Game! They will design their game from start to finish,
beginning with pencil and paper and ending with a polished, professional-looking game. Throughout this process,
they will learn the fundamentals of 3D Game Development. To develop the games, students will use OWL Game
Creator, which we have developed specifically with our target age range in mind. This software program equips
students with the knowledge and skills they need to pursue Game Design at a professional level. Students will
learn level design, texturing, volumes, lighting and more to build out their 3D world - they can create anything they
can imagine. Students will also learn Game Scripting so that they can program the functionality of

Come join the fun! This exciting and challenging camp is sure to keep your 9-12 year olds busy this summer!
Campers will create and race Legos, play games and solve puzzles, all in a fun and safe environment. Instructor
Mary Claire Klooster will facilitate the fun while challenging campers all week long. What a perfect escape from
the summer heat, while being challenged each day with brain stimulating activities. (Don’t love Legos? Come join

Atlanta Braves Baseball Camp (Boys & Girls)
Atlanta Braves Baseball Camp offers boys and girls ages 5-13 – of all abilities – the ultimate Major League
Experience with one-week sessions in convenient locations around the Atlanta area. Join fellow teammates for
top-notch baseball instruction combined with unforgettable moments such as meeting a current or alumni Braves
player and touring Turner Field in an official Braves uniform. Each Braves Camps family will get two complimentary
tickets to an Atlanta Braves game during the summer (five different Sunday game options) with the ability to
purchase additional tickets at a discount. Our professional Braves coaching staff is the best in the area and
committed to the individual development of each ballplayer. Our curriculum is highly organized, tailored to the
age and ability of our ballplayers, and infused with positive energy every minute of the day. The camp day runs

Let’s Act Drama Camp: (Boys & Girls)
Come join the fun and learn about acting in a Christian environment! Actors will learn warm-up exercises, a variety
of improvisational games, the parts of the stage and the five “W’s” in a fun, stress-free environment. They will
explore the acting process by auditioning and rehearsing a short play with minimal set and costume requirements.
We will conclude with a Mini Musical performance on the last day.

Summer Camps Refund Policy
Refunds, if provided, must be handled by Pinecrest Academy directly (they are not handled
through SportsSignup).
All requests for refunds must be emailed to jmccabe@pinecrestacademy.org. All monies paid, with
the exception of a $15.00 administrative fee per camp enrolled, will be refunded provided the
notice of cancellation is received 5 days prior to the start of camp. We are unable to provide
refunds requested less than 5 days prior to camp for any reason. We are also unable to issue a
credit for future camps. This policy applies to all summer camps, with the exception of the Club
Scientific Camps and the Atlanta Braves Camp, whose refund policy is on their registration site.
