About the Department of Immigration and Border Protection at the Australian High Commission in Port Moresby The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) works to keep Australia secure through border management and facilitates travellers to enter Australia on a temporary or permanent basis. DIBP makes fair and reasonable decisions on visa applications for people wishing to enter Australia, ensuring compliance with Australia’s immigration laws and integrity in decision-making. The Immigration Section in Port Moresby is responsible for processing all temporary and permanent visa applications lodged in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. About the role Under close direction, the Administration Officer will provide administrative assistance to the Immigration Section at Port Moresby Post. The key responsibilities for this position are: Provide general administrative office support Manage registration of inbound and outbound messages, mail and faxes to ensure the timely delivery and dispatch Respond to basic email enquiries and delegate more complex enquiries to appropriate team members Manage the records management function including file creation, filing of documents, and database entry Provide timely and accurate information to other officers including uploading visa application information and cross checking data lists with documents received from visa applicants Provide basic IT technical and hardware support Prepare basic reports Perform other duties as directed Eligibility/Other Requirements The successful candidate is required to obtain a satisfactory police check, medical check and maybe required to travel on occasions. A current driver’s license is required to drive a work vehicle. Selection Criteria The following criteria will be used to assess an applicant’s suitability for a position.
