4k motion picture cameras have been on the market for some time, aiming at the digital cinematography market. Productions for broadcast drama, live entertainment, documentaries, and live
broadcast have already started to set up workflows for 4k productions. Getting more from the movie
content constantly drives the need for 4k productions. Understanding this challenges, Pomfort has
extended his established and well proven LiveGrade Pro solution, which is now also available for all
kind of 4k production scenarios. LiveGrade 4k will be demonstrated the first time at NAB 2015.

Powerful Tools for Matching Cameras and Applying Looks
With LiveGrade 4K studio technicians and DITs can manipulate the look of a live 4K or UHD signal
(Quad HD-SDI) coming from a camera or video mixer in full 4K / UHD resolution in real-time
(Figure 1). This solution allows fine adjustments for matching cameras in challenging lighting conditions and enables the flexible application of creative looks in live production.
With the use of lookup tables (3D-LUTs), LiveGrade 4K can seamlessly integrate non-Rec.709 signals (e.g. coming from a Sony PMW-F55 camera as slog3) into a typical Rec.709 production environment – maintaining access to the full dynamic range of todays motion picture cameras.
