in front of our eyes. We, at IDC Herzliya, believe that this constant

The graduate program in Organizational Behavior and
Development (OBD) is an answer to those challenges and

Dear prospective students and friends,
Welcome to IDC Herzliya’s MA Program in Organizational Behavior
and Development (OBD), a joint program of the Arison School of
Business and the Baruch Ivcher School of Psychology. We offer
students and professionals the opportunity to acquire expertise in
issues that confront organizational development, leadership and
management within Israel and around the world.
Taught by some of the field’s leading lecturers, our curriculum is
based on the “scientific-practitioner” model by which students
are exposed to cutting edge theory and research, and are able to
immediately apply this scientific knowledge to fieldwork within
Israeli and international organizations.

OF THE OBD MA PROGRAM
Prof. Dan Zakay
The mission of the MA program in Organizational Behavior and
Development (OBD) is to educate experts who will be able
to understand and diagnose organizations, and to effectively
conduct organizational development interventions which will
improve organizational effectiveness. The program is also aimed
at educating researchers in the field of organizational behavior.
In order to achieve these goals a curriculum has been designed
which combines the teaching of theory, research methods and
personal development of the students. Students will be trained
in all the skills which an organizational counselor needs.

This unique program is suitable for young professionals who
have obtained their BAs in the following fields: psychology;
behavioral sciences; social sciences; business administration or

addition to frontal instruction, on case studies and simulations
aimed at enhancing experiential learning.

The program includes two tracks:
During the second year students take a research seminar. During
the seminar students choose a research issue or question,
develop a research proposal, collect data and analyze it. They then
present the class with their findings and submit a report by the
end of the course.
Practicum
During all four semesters students take practicum courses (first
year practicum, second year practicum) which are designed to
develop and train basic counseling skills and provide students
with professional training in organizational diagnosis and
organizational interventions. Practicum courses are held in small
groups (around twelve students) and are supervised by senior
organizational counselors.

Students in both tracks take:

Students who take the OBD track (without thesis) have to take
the required two professional workshops as well as the three
required enrichment courses (a total of ten credits). Students
in this track have to write a final paper describing an analysis
of professional issues in counseling. The deadline for the
presentation of this paper is by the end of the second year
summer vacation.
Students who take the OBD research track with thesis are
exempted from six credits in the following fields: workshops;
and enrichment courses. The students have to take only one
professional workshop and one enrichment course (a total
of four credits). Thus, students who chose the research track
with thesis have more available time during the second year of
studies in order to conduct their research and write their MA
thesis. The MA thesis includes: preparing and running a novel
and independent empirical study related to organizational
behavior either at the individual, group or organizational level;
analyzing the collected data; and writing a research report.
Thesis students are required to finish their MA thesis during the
third year.
Students choose which track they want to take during the
second semester of the first year. Eligibility for admission to the
thesis track depends on GPA or BA scores. Only students with a
GPA higher than 3.5 or a BA average grade higher than 90 will
be accepted to this track. Students who don't meet this criterion
but can demonstrate academic excellence during the first year
of their MA studies will be eligible to submit a request to enroll
in the thesis track by the end of the first year.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
The criteria for admission to the MA program in Organizational
Behavior and Development are:
»» All preparatory courses must be completed with a grade that
»» A BA degree from a college or university in Israel or abroad that

APPLICATION PERIOD
APPLICATION FEE
Application period for the academic year 2015 – 2016 is
January 1, 2015 – May 1st 2015.
The application fee is $150 US (non-refundable) to be paid by
registration.
Late application period is May 2, 2015 – August 31, 2015.
The application fee can be paid in cash or by check at the
Admissions Department, or by credit card via the Internet.
Please note: all information, grades and official documents
must be submitted by the last date of the application period
before an application is considered complete.
IDC Herzliya reserves the right to impose stricter criteria upon
applicants during the late application period or upon applicants
who submit material late. Preference will be given to applicants
who submit all required material during the regular application
period.
The application fee covers part of the expense of processing and
evaluating an application to study at IDC Herzliya. This fee is
non-refundable even if the applicant decides to withdraw his/her
application. IDC graduates are exempt from the application fee.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
The academic program of the Raphael Recanati International
School is taught entirely in English. Graduates of schools in
which English was not the primary language of instruction are
required to pass the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
or an equivalent test, such as the IELTS (International English
Language Testing System), PEARSON (Language Test) or the Israel
Psychometric Examination.

APPLICATION STATUS
1. Applicants who do not submit all required information and
documents with their application forms, but intend to do so
at a later date, should note this on the application form. In all
cases, all documents must be submitted to the Admissions
Department no later than August 31, 2015.
2. Applicants who submit unofficial copies of documents will be
evaluated based on the documents they submit. If accepted,
all official copies must be submitted within fourteen days of
acceptance. Applicants who do not do so risk having the offer
of acceptance withdrawn and/or having their application
reevaluated during a later stage of the application process.
3. The Admissions Department will notify applicants upon
receiving their applications. The notification will indicate
whether or not the entire application was received. In the
latter case, the notice will list the missing documentation
required in order to complete the application process.
4. Applicants who complete their applications after the
application period has ended and who meet the admission
criteria will be admitted upon availability of space in the
program.

A $1,000 US tuition deposit must be sent to the registrar at the
Raphael Recanati International School within one month of being
accepted to study at IDC Herzliya in order to reserve a place in the
class. The tuition deposit is the first tuition payment.

OBD Merit Scholarships
FFEL Loan for U.S. Students
The RRIS awards excellent students with Merit Scholarships
based on previous performance. Students do not apply for
this scholarship - the RRIS Admissions Office will notify you if
relevant.
The Raphael Recanati International School at IDC, Herzliya
has been approved by the U.S. Department of Education as
a Foreign School to participate in the FFEL Loan Program.
Students will need to submit a FAFSA and can do so
electronically at the following website: www.fafsa.ed.gov
Masa Scholarships
This website allows the student to submit a FAFSA, make any
needed corrections and print the student version of the FAFSA
request. Our FAFSA school code is G40703.
The Jewish Agency for Israel and the Israeli Prime Minister’s
Office co-sponsor the Masa project to encourage young Jews
who are not Israeli citizens to study in Israel. Application
forms for Masa must be submitted to the Raphael Recanati
International School, which will stamp the application and
forward it to Masa.
Masa will not accept applications without an RRIS stamp. Please
note, Masa is an independent initiative and therefore its criteria
for evaluating scholarship requests may differ from those used
to evaluate OBD Program requests.

Visa & Status Assistance
The IDC Herzliya Psychological Counseling Service is designed
to promote the health and well-being of students. Resident
psychologists provide professional, individualized counseling
in both academic and personal matters – from problems
related to social integration and learning disabilities to
personal conflicts and crises. All counseling is kept strictly
confidential. If extended treatment is recommended, the
student is referred to a suitable off-campus professional. The
Psychological Counseling Service also sponsors workshops
on topics such as coping with anxiety in testing situations and
inter-personal relations.
Students are responsible for clarifying and establishing their status
in Israel and can turn to the Raphael Recanati International School
staff for advice and assistance. Before commencing studies, all
students must clarify their status and eligibility for a student visa (A-2)
or Israeli citizenship with the Israeli embassy or consulate in their
country of origin. International students who are children of an Israeli
parent must settle all matters, such as deferment of military service,
with the nearest Israeli embassy or consulate. The Jewish Agency
provides advice and assistance to students considering immigrating

Career Center
The Center strives to prepare students to enter the workplace
and to assist them in locating suitable employment
opportunities. The Center provides a variety of counseling,
placement and informational services tailored to meet the
specific needs of the students and graduates of each of IDC
Herzliya’s schools. These services include personal career
counseling and assistance as well as lectures and workshops
on job-seeking strategies. In addition, the Center creates
recruitment and networking opportunities such as job fairs
and employers meetings. The Center also maintains an
updated listing of job openings in Israel for students and
graduates.

Health Insurance
All IDC Herzliya students are required to have comprehensive
health insurance coverage throughout the period of their studies.
Israeli residents, including new immigrants, receive national health
insurance for a low monthly fee in accordance with the country’s
health insurance legislation. International students who are not
covered by Israel’s national health insurance must purchase a
health insurance policy which will cover their health needs while
studying at IDC. We have made special arrangements with HAREL
YEDIDIM to insure international students who are not covered by
Israel’s National Health Insurance (bituach leumi). This insurance
plan provides comprehensive health coverage for *$790 US per
academic year, which will be charged at the beginning of each year.
In order to have continuous coverage, the policy will automatically
be renewed from one academic year to the next unless the student
notifies the school in writing that he/she wishes to cancel.
* Rates are subject to change according to insurance company
rate fluctuations.

My father, Raphael Recanati, had a dream and his vision was
embraced by me – to bring those in the Diaspora closer to Israel.
At the Raphael Recanati International School we continually
strive to achieve this goal by strengthening the bond between
Israelis and students from around the world. When I meet our
graduates, I realize that we are fulfilling the dream.
I have the pleasure of hosting the students at our home, where I
am equally amazed by the growth and maturity they exhibit, their
knowledge of Israel and its history and their understanding of the
miracle of the Zionist dream. These young men and women become
the future leadership of the country, and of the Diaspora, endowed
with the tools and knowledge to excel wherever life takes them.
At the beginning of the academic year I am always amazed to
see our freshman students, from over eighty countries, enter
the RRIS filled with promise and ambition. Three years later,
I feel very fortunate to be part of this outstanding academic
institution which fills me with pride and hope for the future of Israel,

IDC HERZLIYA ALUMNI
IDC Herzliya’s first graduates and the school administration jointly founded the Alumni Association in 1998. It currently has
over 14,000 members who take an active part in the world of law, government, economy, business and high-tech in Israel and
throughout the world.
The professional and academic worlds eagerly welcome IDC Herzliya alumni, appreciating their interdisciplinary outlook and the practical
skills and experience they obtained during their studies. Alumni can be found at leading graduate programs around the world as well as in
