Macrosuede Ticks all the boxes Parties Easy clean Kids Macrosuede is the only man-made suede in the world to incorporate ‘Healthguard’, offering in-built protection against dust-mite pathogens, great news for over 2 million Asthma sufferers throughout Australasia and children are particularly at risk. One in four Australian children experience some sort of respiratory condition. Warwick Macrosuedes are tested for ‘heavy commercial’ durability and have gained wide exposure in commercial markets where they are also tested to Australian/NZ Fire Hazard Properties Standard AS 1530.3. Try spilling a glass of water on Warwick Macrosuedes. Liquid spills simply bead on the surface. Blotting with a paper towel or colourfast cloth removes the liquid easily. Warwick Macrosuede technology also incorporates anti-static chemistry which prevents the attraction of dust particles and acts as a fluorochemical agent releasing stains. Warwick Macrosuedes are compatible with independent retail fabric protection and guarantee programs. These programs may enhance the fabric’s ability to resist liquid staining by providing a Untreated fabric spill-repellent surface and/or warranties to cover accidental damage. They will not reduce the efficacy of the HealthGuard treatment. New fashion colours Relax in style. Macrosuede and Macro-Soft are now available in an expanded range of the latest decorator colours, which are fully tested to international colourfast standards. Cool in summer and warm in winter Macrosuede and Macro-Soft are woven suedes which ‘breathe’ to provide perfect comfort all year round. Protection HealthGuard ™ treated fabric The petri dishes above show the difference between a HealthGuard treated sample and an untreated sample. The surroundings of the HealthGuard treated fabric were resistant to Staphylococcus aureus MRSA A129 to a distance of 6mm. Pets Scratch-resistant and pet-friendly, Warwick Macrosuedes are engineered to resist scratches in a way no natural leather can. Drag a corkscrew across the surface to mimic the effect of pet claws. While some marks may remain, the bulk of them can be rubbed or brushed away. Pet hairs can also be easily removed with a damp cloth. Look for the Macrosuede Hallmark! Macrosuede and Macro-Soft are registered trademarks that guarantee the exclusive quality and tailoring characteristics of Warwick Fabrics’ high performance man-made suedes. Since 2006, to protect against cheap copies, each of these products included a printed hallmark on the reverse side of the fabric. Lesser quality suedes are easily distinguished by their lightweight and shiny or ‘grainy’ surface or even ‘striping’ caused by the use of cheaper yarns and inferior dyestuffs. If the finished weight of the fabric is reduced too much, the upholstery is also prone to unsightly puckering along seams. So beware of generic suede names such as ‘Microsuede’, and where possible ask your furniture retailer to unzip cushion covers to show the true Macrosuede hallmark. They respond superbly to cleaning tests on some of the most common household stains, such as red wine, tea and coffee, chocolate, shoe polish, make-up and ink. Spot cleaning Treat spills and stains as soon as possible. Gently scrape any soil or mop any liquid from the fabric surface. Apply proprietary cleaning agents strictly according to instructions. Use of soap or detergent with water should be approached carefully. Over zealous rinsing to remove soap residue may result in over-wetting, water marking and possible wetting of substructure. This may create other stains or damage. Non-oil based stains Pre-test the cleaning method on a hidden part of the furniture, using warm water and nontoilet soap (Vanish/Sard Wonder Soap are available from most supermarkets). Mix a small amount of soap and warm water solution and apply to the stain, rubbing gently. Blot dry with a clean towel. Apply cool water (preferably distilled or filtered water) and blot dry again. Then with a hairdryer, working out from the centre of the stain, dry quickly to prevent rings forming. It is generally preferable to clean whole panels of fabric in this way rather than trying to spot clean specific areas. Halo Spot Cleaner is a special non-solvent based cleaner from the Warwick Halo Fabric Care Kit. Quick and simple, it demonstrates the easy cleaning properties of all Warwick Halo upholstery fabrics. Oil based stains As above, apply a proprietary brand solvent based cleaner and generally try to ensure the cleaning is done in full panels, not spot cleaned. A helpful industry secret is to remove oil based biro marks by applying conventional hairspray. Regular care Remember the long term villain, DUST, is settling daily on your favourite furniture pieces. Highly visible on coffee tables and polished surfaces, dust is quite often unnoticed on upholstered furniture. Yet accumulated dust and grit work their way into the fibres and act like miniature ‘grinders’ which ultimately lead to the breakdown of even the strongest fabrics. So please take care to vacuum regularly (weekly) using low suction, to significantly extend the life of your furniture. When arranging your furniture, take care to avoid touching external walls or radiators. This prevents problems of moisture build up and/or scorching damage. Protect from direct sunlight It is important to note that no fabric is 100% colourfast and that it is impossible to prevent colours fading if adequate precautions are not taken. Winter sun, sitting lower in the sky, can cause the most damage, particularly when protective curtains have been opened to warm the room. Rotate reversible cushions regularly to extend the life of your seating. Macro-Soft cleaning note Macro-Soft’s distinctive herringbone pattern requires cleaning to be carried out a little differently. It is recommended that a cleaning agent be applied to a clean, white cloth and gently rubbed on to the soiled area. Over application of cleaning agents directly to the Macro-Soft surface may cause the stain to spread, as it is ‘channeled’ by the herringbone structure. Completing the stain removal process Once residual stains are removed, deodorise the affected area to remove any lingering odours. Then re-apply fabric protector to restore any liquid repellency that may have been removed along with the stain. The Warwick Halo Fabric Care Kit To further enhance spot cleaning results, Warwick have introduced the Halo Fabric Care Kit which includes Halo Spot Cleaner for most household stains, Halo Fabric Deodoriser to help neutralise pet and general odours and Halo Fabric Protector to restore liquid repellency on fabric sections that have been spot cleaned. The Halo Fabric Care Kit is available from most furniture retailers. Test Standards Durability Martindale rub test (ISO 12947) Colourfastness In laboratory conditions fabric samples are continuously rubbed under pressure until the fibre is observed to fatigue. Warwick Macrosuedes are classified as suitable for Heavy Commercial Upholstery use. Where 1 = Poor and 5 = Excellent Colourfastness — standards shown are those which represent the highest requirement for domestic upholstery fabrics.
