discovery of insulin, the Banting Medal is awarded annually to honor highly
meritorious career achievement in the field of diabetes research.
Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award
The award is given to a researcher, less than 50 years of age, to recognize
outstanding scientific achievement in diabetes research, taking into
consideration independence of thought, originality, significance of discovery,
and impact on his/her area of research.
