Program Director - Project Transformation

JOB DESCRIPTION: Program Director
POSITION SUMMARY: Under policy direction of the Executive Director, performs a wide range of difficult to complex management.
In the spirit of the mission of Project Transformation, the Program Director is primarily responsible for recruiting and supervising
summer interns; managing the food program; managing the implementation and evaluation of all programming activities; creating a
nurturing, supporting work environment for summer interns. Works closely with the Executive Director to ensure program meets
objectives and assists in planning, policy, and operation matters. Responsible for upholding the mission and values of Project
Transformation including the covenant relationship with the United Methodist Church.
Position is a contract position from May 15, 2015-August 15th, 2015, with the potential to extend contract.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: This position requires daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities that must be complete in a timely
manner.








Develops an annual recruiting plan and recruits interns and house pastors for the summer programs. Maintains existing and
develops new relationships with campus ministries and churches.
Interviews, hires, and supervises summer interns. Creates and implements annual training for all interns. Schedules
roommates, negotiates conflicts, creates work teams, and evaluates interns’ performance. Coaches and counsels interns in
a calm and mature manner.
Visits sites throughout the week and provides daily and ongoing coaching, management, supervision, and support for the
professional and personal development of interns. Collects all required site paperwork, input the data, and submits it to the
Director on a weekly basis.
Manages the food program.
Oversees the reading program. Develops, prepares, and assesses forms, records, charts, and other operational materials.
Works with the Executive Director and house pastor(s) to oversee community housing activities (i.e. worship, community
dinners, devotions, chores, weekend activities, etc.). Attends intern dinners throughout the week to make announcements,
interact with interns, and provide counsel and evaluations.
Communicates with churches to share the mission of Project Transformation and seek volunteers, potential interns, and
additional support. Assists with the creation and maintenance of the Project Transformation website and promotional
videos as it relates to recruiting activities.
Assists the Executive Director in coaching and directing staff in operational activities to ensure compliance with goals,
objectives and budget. Assists the Executive Director in grant writing. Reviews on a continual basis the department
procedures, staffing and equipment for maximum efficiency while controlling costs.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
 Must have Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent years of experience plus at least two summer terms completed with Project
Transformation, preferably as site coordinator during one of those terms.
 Must have excellent computer skills. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must have excellent communications
skills both verbal and written. Must be able to work with others to resolve issues and maintain composure in an
environment of changing priorities. Must use the personal computer, including word processing, spreadsheet, database and
computer aided design software, calculator, fax, phone, projectors, website, and mobile phone.
 Must have knowledge of all policies and procedures. Must be able to create a nurturing, supportive work environment for
interns, volunteers, children, and staff. Must have positive demeanor, self and balance. Poised and comfortable in relating to
a variety of people in multiple settings. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Problem solver, who is well
organized, methodical, and detail oriented. Must be able to accept all diverse background including sexual orientation, race,
religion, and disability. Knowledge of developmental levels for youth, specifically those in an urban context. Must discern
age appropriate information and behavior of students and interns. Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and
proceed with objectives without supervision.
 May be required to work weekends, travel out of town for extended days. Must possess a valid driver’s license or have the
ability to obtain one prior to employment.
