Overview
Promundo-Great Lakes is a Rwanda NGO recently formed in partnership with Promundo-US, an
international non-governmental organization dedicated to gender equality and violence prevention.
The Finance Coordinator will be based either in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), or in
Gisenyi, Rwanda, depending on personal and public security concerns.
The Living Peace Finance Coordinator will report to the Living Peace Program Director based in
Goma, DRC and the Promundo-US Director of Finance and Operations based in Washington, DC,
and will work with the Living Peace in the DRC staff and partner NGO’s. Candidates should have
an accounting degree and experience working in an office environment.
Duties include:
• Managing budgets and expenses related to the Living Peace in the DRC Project to ensure
that activities remain within budget and according to the grant agreement.
• Working with Promundo NGO partners in the Living Peace in the DRC Project to assist in
budgeting, financial reporting and fraud prevention
• Along with the Living Peace Program Director liaising with the Dutch government in
tracking the financial progress of the Living Peace in DRC project
• Managing any new consultants and vendor contracts
• Monitoring project implementation and financial record keeping of the Living Peace in the
DRC partner NGO’s to ensure that activities proceed along the agreed timetable, and
financial activities are being documented
• Manage financial reporting to Promundo-US and the funder and partners
• Working with Promundo-US and Promundo-Great Lakes personnel in the expansion of the
Promundo-Great Lakes office
• Managing human resources of project staff
About Promundo
Founded in Brazil in 1997, Promundo works internationally to engage men and boys in advancing
gender equality and preventing violence. Promundo’s independently registered NGOs in the US,
Brazil and Portugal collaborate to conduct high-quality formative, population-based research;
develop and conduct impact evaluations, scale-up gender transformative interventions; and carry out
national and international advocacy to achieve gender equality and prevent violence. Promundo has
been active in the Great Lakes region since 2010 conducting research and developing and evaluating
interventions promoting gender equality with key local partners.
Promundo was founded in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where it carries out community-based work to
engage men and boys in gender equality; to prevent gender-based violence and violence against
children; to reduce homophobia; and to empower and achieve the rights of women and girls.
Promundo also serves as global co-Chair and Latin American coordinator of the MenEngage
Alliance, a global network of NGOs and UN agencies working to engage men and boys in gender
equality. Promundo-US, a separate legal entity, coordinates technical assistance outside of Brazil,

carries out advocacy globally, supports Promundo activities and fundraising in Brazil, coordinates
the global MenCare Campaign and the Living Peace Programs in the Great Lakes Region. For more

Promundo-Great Lakes was recently registered in Rwanda to coordinate Promundo’s activities both
in Rwanda as well as regionally in the Great Lakes region. It is a separately registered Rwandan
NGO according to the registration requirements of the Rwandan government. It has an independent
board of directors and follows all requirements for NGOs in Rwanda.
About the Position
The Finance Coordinator will report, for operational purposes, to the Living Peace Program Director
in Goma, DRC and the Promundo-US Director of Finance and Operations based in Washington,
DC, but will work in Rwanda or DRC (depending on personal and public security issues at the time
of hiring). Salary is 29,000 – 30,000 US Dollars (26,500 – 32,500 Euros), gross pay, per annum
depending on salary history and experience. A comprehensive set of benefits is included. Proposed
starting date is as soon as possible after application closing date.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• An Accounting Degree
• Strong demonstrated experience in project and budget management and office accounting
practices.
• Experience in working in emergency settings/conflict areas
• Experience in working and coordinating with UN, donors and NGOs and other stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills
• Excellent English writing and speaking skills as well as fluency in French. Swahili is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and written skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to handle pressure and stress, ability to improvise, adapt and flexibility
Desired Qualifications
• Knowledge and experience in the field of gender equality
• Previous work with local or international NGO’s
