Notre Dame Day is a chance to celebrate and give to what you love most about the University!
WHEN IS IT? On April 26 – 27, the global Notre Dame family will come together in a celebration of all things Notre Dame through an online fundraising competition and streaming broadcast. Notre Dame Day will kick off 18:42 Eastern Time (6:42 pm ET) on April 26 and conclude at Midnight on April 27. By way of 29-‐hour streaming digital content, social media engagement, and on-‐campus events, we will highlight the Notre Dame mission and inspire all those unified in devotion to Our Lady’s University to take action and give back. We will be showcasing compelling stories of the good works being done by Notre Dame Alumni, Students, Family and Friends from across the globe. Be sure to join us by participating in the day’s on-‐
campus festivities at LaFortune and by watching all of the live interviews, special musical performances, remote reporting, in-‐studio performances and surprise guests! You won’t want to miss this. WHY PARTICIPATE? The opportunity to receive a portion of the $1 Million Challenge Fund. By rallying your friends and family to give and then vote for your group on Notre Dame Day, you will receive the percentage of the $1 Million that matches your group’s percentage of total votes received. The dollars received by your group may be used to support one or many initiatives which your group deems appropriate. You decide where the dollars will be best served. Again, the portion of the Challenge Fund which your group will receive is up to you, so activate your social network and encourage people to cast their votes! 1 NOTRE DAME DAY 2015 | PARTICIPATION GUIDEBOOK HOW DOES IT WORK? Starting on March 17, your group will be able to create your own page on the Notre Dame Day giving platform, Crowdster. This page will be yours to use in whatever way you choose (within Notre Dame University standards). http://onmessage.nd.edu/communications-‐policies-‐and-‐guidelines/social-‐
media-‐guidelines/ On this page, you can post photos, video, and explain how you will use your portion of the $1 Million. This page will also be featured from time-‐to-‐time on the Notre Dame Day website attracting even more people to your cause. During your fundraising efforts, you may drive people to your page to learn more about your group and engage. Your page will have very easy sharing capabilities through existing social media channels. ON APRIL 26, THE VOTING BEGINS! The exciting live stream broadcast, as well as the opportunity to give and the voting competition, will live on NOTREDAMEDAY.ND.EDU Through an initial gift (minimum $10), people will receive five (5) votes to cast for the area(s) of the University which they have a connection with and would like to support. Again, people will have the opportunity to cast their vote(s) for your group. The more votes, the more of the $1 Million Challenge Fund you will receive. Once someone casts their votes, a personal page will be created for them (acting as a gift receipt) which they can CHOOSE to make public. These pages also have the ability to easily be shared via social media by linking them to their own Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts. Again, it behooves any interest group to be as engaging as possible with their communication strategies to drive more people to come to your page to vote. RESOURCES Crowdster Access: In order to receive administrative access to edit your group’s page on Crowdster, a single person must be designated to receive all communication from the Notre Dame Day team. Once this person has been identified and the Notre Dame Day team has been notified (ndday@nd.edu) as to this contact, a password will be sent for adminstrative access. We will be holding several Social Media Conferences between the launch of the site (March 17) and the beginning of April to demonstrate how to set up a Crowdster page and review social media best practices. Please be on the lookout for details. Three key thoughts on social media success: 1. Follow Proud to Be ND on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and like/share our Notre Dame Day content. April 27, 1879 marked a seminal moment in the history of the University of Notre Dame. On this day, Rev. Edward Frederick Sorin, C.S.C. returned to campus after a devastating fire and walked through the ruins. It is a day when the University could have ceased to exist. As soon as the bricks cooled, Father Sorin inspired the entire community to rebuild. He announced that Our Lady had to burn the University to the ground to prove they had dreamed too small, and it would be rebuilt, bigger and better than ever. Every April 27th, the University celebrates Notre Dame Day, honoring this bold vision and the incredible work of Our Lady’s University. 3 NOTRE DAME DAY 2015 | PARTICIPATION GUIDEBOOK LETTER TEMPLATE Dear < >, We are excited to announce our participation in the 2nd Annual Notre Dame Day on April 26 – 27.
