Start with slightly damp or dry hair. 2. Comb or brush your hair to get rid of tangles. If you have curly hair, use a comb rather than a brush. The comb will allow you to keep your curls and avoid frizz. 3. Use a curling iron if you hair is straight and sleek. Adding curls into your hair will make it easier to make a Fishtail braid and will give you a sophisticated look. This is optional. 4. For a messy Fishtail braid, mess up the curls in your hair with your fingers. If you decided not to put curls in your hair, you can dampen your hair and run your fingers in your hair in circular motions. 5. For a tidy look, brush your hair instead of combing it.
