25 people attended an information session presented by Ross Stewart and Ken Evans, members of the
Sunshine Coast Amateur Beekeepers Group along with Dale Ihle, a member of the Stanley Rivers Branch
of the Qld Beekeepers Association
Live bees could be seen on frames from the hive in the double observation hive brought to the Library by Ross.
He also spoke about
The components of a bee hive
The workings of a bee hive
Pests and diseases of honey bees
Information on how to join the Sunshine Coast
Beekeepers Group to learn more about bees.
Bottles of honey were on display that were later
available for purchase.
All those attending found the information very
interesting with several keen to investigate further the
possibilities of a new hobby - in beekeeping.
