Theory and Practice in
Perfect Combination
Why Employee engagement matters
In 2012, Gallup conducted a research. Researchers studied
49,928 work units, including nearly 1.4 million employees. This
analysis further confirmed the well-established connection
between employee engagement and nine performance
outcomes:
• Customer ratings
• Profitability
• Productivity
• Turnover
• Safety incidents
• Shrinkage (theft)
• Absenteeism
• Patient safety incidents
• Quality (defects)
Why Employee engagement matters
Work units in the top quartile in employee engagement outperformed bottom-quartile units by 10% on customer
ratings, 22% in profitability, and 21% in productivity. Work units in the top quartile also saw significantly lower turnover
(25% in high-turnover organizations, 65% in low-turnover organizations), shrinkage (28%), and absenteeism (37%) and
fewer safety incidents (48%), patient safety incidents (41%), and quality defects (41%).
• Companies with an average of 9.3 engaged employees for every actively disengaged employee in 2010-2011
experienced 147% higher EPS compared with their competition in 2011-2012.
• Companies with an average of 2.6 engaged employees for every actively disengaged employee, in contrast,
experienced 2% lower EPS compared with their competition during that same time period.

How can Virtonomics be applied?
GAME
Business games
The use of business games in order to reach the predetermined corporate goals has
been trending for the past decade. Whether it’s for team building, improving employee
knowledge, testing their skills, or just having a fun and useful exercise – undoubtedly,
business games are the most involving and entertaining way to do it
Assessment
Employee training
VIRTONOMICS
Training
Learning
Trainings and seminars have various underlying goals – whether their meant to increase
the qualification and knowledge of the existing employees, or to develop competencies
of newly hired company members. Virtonomics provides great advantages in both of
these cases. The facilitators of the educational curriculums, will be able to incorporate
the flexible Virtonomics platform into their programs, consequently becoming highly
aware of each participants unique learning curve, as well as their progression towards
the primary goals of the workshop.
Employee assesment
Improvement
Development
Will the new hires take the right decisions at a critical moment? How about the “old-timers” –
are they still capable of pulling off the cutting edge performance when it’s needed? In many
industries, these types of questions are resolved by annual, monthly or even daily assessment
which is then followed by knowledge reinforcement. Astronauts, pilots, doctors, soldiers and
so on – perfect their skills, up until their performance becomes subconscious. Most of the
companies in the business world, have been learning from their mistakes the hard way. For
some reason, companies accept that employees are either a hit or a miss, a 50/50, a flip of
the coin. But it doesn’t have to be that way – not any more. The business world is rapidly
deploying the gamification procedures into their daily routines. Not only that it’s possible to
hire perfect candidates without any risk, but it’s also possible to keep all of the employees on
the constant peak of their performance.

PDCA - iterative four-step management method in Virtonomics
All of the Virtonomics trainings are based on the PDCA (aka
Deming) cycle. In one training day, all of the participants will
repeat this cycle up-to 8 times (one cycles continues for 1
hour). With each cycle, participants will focus on different
aspects of their business.
The process of training
Theory
During the training, participants receive
the necessary theoretical information,
followed by a group discussion about the
plan of actions
Practice
Participats are working together to reach
the predetermined goals of the training.
Many variations can take place – but
mostly, it‘s either an individual or a group
activity.

Example of a training scenario
Market intelligence
Goal: Players are scouting new locations for the expansions of their business in a highly
competitive market conditions.
The premise: All players are competitors, having that in mind – their goal is to locate the best
region for expansion. They know, that their competitors are going to expand their
businesses as well. Every one of them, has to locate a “sweet spot” – a market,
where there’s plenty of potential clients, prices and taxes involved for a new
company are the lowest and ideally – none of the other competitors are going to
deploy their business in that region. Players have to use all the available tools for
market and competitor analysis, to avoid the worst case scenario – building their
business in the exact same spot as their competitors.
The participants •Do a proper market and competitor analysis
will learn to: •Use the best practices of corporate espionage
•Calculate the expenses of a new subdivision
