Course Title CIEH Level 3 Award in Education and Training Qualification Accreditation Number 600/9634/2 Course Duration This programme is run over 4 days with course timings 9.00 am – 5.00 pm each day, with a contact time of 28 hours. The remainder of the hours is to be used for directed study time The unit 2 assessment is undertaken in 1 day within 2/3 weeks of the course. Course Aim This course is a short, introductory; knowledge based teaching qualification and has no minimum teaching practice requirement. It aims to introduce some of the roles and responsibilities of teaching/training, give an understanding of how to deliver inclusive teaching/training using recognised approaches and understand how to assess learning. Suitable for • Any individual with aspiration to take on a training role or who have just started in a training role • HR Managers with a specific interest in the field of Learning and Development • Anyone who is aiming to deliver CIEH and other awarding bodies (BII, WSET) accredited courses (in-house or externally) • For any individual who has the potential to study at this level which has the same level of demand as that of study for ‘A’ Level. Entry Guidance • The CIEH recommends that candidates should have a minimum of Level 2 in English or equivalent to undertake this qualification • The qualification is approved for delivery to candidates over 19+ • Candidates must participate in at least 80% of the training programme to be eligible for assessment. Learning Outcomes Unit 1 Aim: To enable learners to gain an understanding of the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training. Objectives: By the end of unit 1 learners will be able to: • Explain the teaching role and responsibilities in education and training. • State ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. • Analyse the relationships between teachers/trainers and other professionals in education and training. Unit 2 Aim: To enable learners to gain an understanding and usage of inclusive teaching and learning approaches to education and training. Objectives: By the end of unit 2 learners will be able to: • Describe features of inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training • Explain why it is important to create an inclusive teaching and learning environment and identify ways to create this • Plan and deliver inclusive teaching and learning • Evaluate the delivery of inclusive teaching and learning. Unit 3 Aim: Enable learners to gain an understanding of assessment in education and training. Objectives: By the end of unit 3 learners will be able to: • Explain the purpose of assessment and identify the types and methods available • Explain how to involve learners and others in the assessment • Explain and demonstrate the role and use of constructive feedback in the assessment process • State the requirements for keeping records of assessment. Assessment Candidates for the Level 3 Award in Education and Training will undertake three assessments: • Unit 1: 15 MCQ examination paper (30 minutes) • Unit 2: An assignment (1000 word outline of subject specialism and involvement in a one hour microteaching session which includes; a 25 minute delivery session, completion of 2 peer assessments and one selfassessment) • Unit 3: 15 MCQ examination paper (30 minutes).
