It also trains students on the tasks that will be required as a pharmacy technician in any pharmacy setting. o Pharmacy technicians are responsible for assisting a pharmacist, processing prescriptions, entering patient data into a computer and preparing some medications. o Students will be doing 300 hours of work for the program. They are broken down as follows: 120 hours of classroom instruction, 60 hours of online instruction and 12 hours of hands on externship. o All students wishing to apply must be at least 18 years old, have earned a high school diploma or G.E.D, be proficient in English, and have a good understanding of 9th/10th grade algebra and arithmetic. Former pharmacy science experience is not required. o The class covers subjects such as basic physiology, drug interactions, pharmacy calculations and drug classes. o The subject matter prepares students for the examination that is needed to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHt).
