A Tear Jerking ANZAC
Rotary club meet
President Debbie led us on a very emotional &
informative ANZAC night. She read us the story of
ANZAC & the poppy & then brought us all undone
with an emotional reading of the poem Flanders
Field. Di Gammon had a special guest, schoolboy
Jaxon Pollard (pictured below with Di) who sang a
couple of moving songs & then led us in the National
Anthem at the conclusion of the meeting. Our keynote speaker was Dr Michael Bendon who told us a
very moving
story of his
discovery of
the
Forgotten
Flotilla off
Crete in WW2.

rescuing over 2000 Aussies off Greece. David’s
talk was very interesting & we hope he may be
able to come back & complete the story. Thanks
Keith Innes for getting a top speaker.
It was a very special night.

Twenty three Rotarians and partners attended the
social lunch at the Riverside Café at Gladstone. It was
great fellowship together, as well as a very enjoyable
meal. It was especially nice to see Dorothy Neabour
(don’t think I spelt that right L) join us. She came with
the Urbans. Special thanks to Sam for once again
organising a great social event. We really appreciate
her effort.
