Our May 26th program promises to be educational and informative with
Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a fearless and knowledgeable resource often seen on
Fox News. As a faithful Muslim, he has a keen desire in helping others to
understand how the Quran is interpreted differently from one believer to
the next.
Dr. Jasser is an American patriot and a good man. His book, A Battle for
the Soul of Islam, proposes a cure for one of the greatest problems
facing the world today: the violence and extremism of radical Islam.
Among the unsettling social shifts after 9/11 among the American people was a division between
those who believed every Muslim was a potential threat and those who believed no Muslim could
do wrong. “One of the most controversial Muslims in the United States,” Dr. Jasser, is a
recognized expert on terrorism baring the crucial differences between Islam and the political and
spiritual cancer known as Islamism. He calls for radical reforms within the Muslim community in
order to preserve liberty for all.
On Tuesday, June 23, our program will feature Mark Spencer from Judicial
Watch (JW) discussing current investigative topics, including the Clintons,
“because no one is above the law.” Mark's 25 years on the Phoenix police force,
as well as his role as an executive board member and president of the Phoenix
Law Enforcement Association, makes him an asset to his current role at JW.

Dear Members,
Can you believe one-third of 2015 has come and gone? My, how the year is flying by! As a
club we have accomplished so much and built upon the amazing work of former years.
Because we hold fast to our mission and principles, RWOP con,nues to grow and flourish
at 493 full members, 142 associates, 2 students, for a grand total of 637 members! One can
simply feel the excitement and energy at the luncheons, and for that I am so grateful to
each and every one of you.
I am also grateful for your support in our decision to raise our luncheon prices to $20
effec,ve at our May 26 luncheon. Our club has been struggling to cover the increased
food prices while maintaining a quality meal. Since January, the club treasury has been
subsidizing the higher food costs, and as good Republicans, that is not being good stewards of our finances. We
believe the new price is a great deal when one considers the beau,ful venue, great wait staff, the meal, mul,ple
beverages, dessert, ,p, tax, and to top it off – excellent programs. Your board works hard to deliver a memorable
and worthwhile experience every month, and I appreciate their hard work.
Speaking of worthwhile experiences, don’t miss out on “An Evening with Dinesh D’Souza” at the Yavapai College
Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, July 28. How fortunate we are to get Dinesh to Presco?! Tickets start at $30.
So go online at Yavapai College Performing Arts Center and choose your seats ASAP, or you can stop by the box office
and simply purchase your ,ckets in person. Also, you are invited to join us at a pre-event cocktail party in the
Sculpture Garden at YCPAC for an addi,onal $25. We will be serving heavy appe,zers and providing a cash bar.
This event will be marketed all the way in the Verde, and we want our members to be able to secure a spot, so
please do not delay!
And of course let’s not forget the movie, “America: Imagine the World Without Her” at the Elks Theater on Tuesday
evening, July 7, with the Professor of Freedom Dr. Terry Lovell facilita,ng discussion following the movie. We’ll be
ready for Dinesh when he comes to Presco?!

Memorial Day — Celebrating Our Fallen Soldiers and Their Sacrifice
Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day, not only as a day to honor our
fallen by decorating their graves, but to remember those who have died in fighting
for United States of America. Memorial Day was borne out of the Civil War and a
desire to honor those soldiers. It was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 by the
Union General John Logan. He said, “The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the
purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades
who died in defense of their country...”
It is now observed in almost every state on the last Monday in May, however, several
southern states have an additional separate day for honoring their Confederate war
dead: January 19 in Texas; April 26 in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi;
May 10 in South Carolina; and June 3 (Jefferson Davis’ birthday) in Louisiana and
Tennessee.
Wherever you spend Memorial Day this year (May 25, or the traditional May 30), please consider visiting the graves
of those who fought for your freedom. Prescott National Cemetery at Highways 69 & 89, Citizens Cemetery on
Sheldon, Mountain View Cemetery on Willow Creek Rd. and Pioneer Cemetery off Iron Springs Rd. are all located in
Prescott. The Citizens Cemetery will feature their annual salute to our fallen with speeches and reenactments on
Monday, May 25 at 9am.

The FIRST Amendment
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
There’s a reason that this is the First Amendment and not the fifth, sixth or tenth...it is the essence of
being a free people. Note that wording of the first ten amendments — the Bill of Rights — are not so
much about what our God-given rights are, but rather to limit the government’s interference in those
rights.
The president and his left-wing party are trying to dismantle the Constitution. It was ratified by Congress on December 15, 1791, and has
always been in effect...until now! The First Amendment addresses five fundamental freedoms. Let’s look at how this administration is
trying to destroy it:
Freedom of Religion (1) – Privately owned businesses have been sued, harassed, and criticized in the "state–run” media for not
complying with same-sex marriage rights. Bakeries, photographers and restaurants are not allowed to express their religious beliefs when
refusing to service the gay community.
Freedom of Speech and Press (2, 3) – Have you heard of "political correctness"? If you have a critical opinion about anything, keep it to
yourself, unless you're criticizing conservatives. At least Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, et. al. can give you a side of the news that is
completely ignored by the left-leaning media.
Freedom to Assemble and Petition (4, 5) – So far, the left has not been able to prevent groups of people to peaceably assemble, but
not because they have not tried. The Christmas Story which is read by Ken Bennett (then an elected official) on the steps of Prescott’s
Courthouse has been threatened by an organization called "The Freedom from Religion." But thanks to Ken Bennett, Mayor Marlin
Kuykendall, and others, the people of Prescott has survived that attack.
As Americans, we understand that with rights come responsibilities. It is our job to make certain we elect candidates who will defend the
Constitution. When you vote, check their backgrounds and beliefs. They MUST adhere to the supreme law of the land, the U.S.
Constitution, or the America as we know and love it will be no more.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
This month, CFA is highlighting the work of an international organization, with a significant outreach in our local community. The Society
of St. Vincent de Paul began in France in 1833, with the idea
of helping the poor by visiting them in their homes and providing
needed care and assistance. In 1845, the first “conference” was
established in St. Louis, Missouri which continues to be the Society’s
U.S. headquarters today.
One hundred years later, a group of young Catholic men in Phoenix joined together to
start a conference in their city and by 1949, the first meeting was held with 5 local priests
and 25 volunteers. Today, the Phoenix Diocesan Council for the Society of St. Vincent de
Paul has 89 conferences (including Prescott and Prescott Valley), over 2,500 active and
associate members and more than 6,000 volunteers – making a BIG difference in our
community!
Home visits are the core of their service, offering food boxes and helping to pay utility
and medical bills, as well as special seasonal events, such as toys and special foods
boxes at Christmas.
Their pantry at St. Germaine Catholic Church in Prescott Valley is always in need food,
personal toiletries and household goods, but mostly
