National South Asian Summit 2015 Call for Volunteers SAALT IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE A CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR THE NATIONAL SOUTH ASIAN SUMMIT 2015. DEADLINE: March 31 Join us at the National South Asian Summit 2015 to explore issues affecting South Asians in the U.S.; build skills to deepen your organization’s work and your individual leadership; connect with government officials and congressional offices; expand your networks; and strategize with diverse leaders, advocates, and allies to lift up voices, create change, and claim our power through collective action for justice. This year’s theme reflects the growing urgency for diverse South Asian American individuals and families to lift up our voices and create change through collective action for justice. To participate in the social justice movement for South Asians living in the U.S. To network and build relationships with like-minded South Asian community leaders and peers who share your perspectives To develop skills on advocating for an issue with policymakers To take a peek behind the scenes of a national event and see how it works What does a Summit volunteer do? Volunteers play critical roles to help drive the Summit: Room preparation, note-taking, time-keeping, speaker and AV support for Summit sessions Participant and speaker check-in at registration Participant direction and navigation Set-up and clean-up Advocacy delegation escort Other logistical and staff support National South Asian Summit 2015 Call for Volunteers When are volunteers needed? Volunteers are needed for: April 10, 2015: ChangeMakers Reception (The Wonderbread Factory, Washington, D.C.) April 11–12, 2015: Summit (Washington College of Law at American University) April 13, 2015: Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill (Capitol Hill Visitor Center) All prospective volunteers must submit the application below by March 31. Volunteers are required to sign-up for at least one shift on April 10, 11, 12, or 13. Volunteer slots are limited, so please indicate ALL availability and the maximum number of shifts you are available for. Selected volunteers will be contacted by April 2. Volunteers will need to attend a 30-minute training webinar on April 3. Volunteers will receive free registration for all Summit events open to the public, including the ChangeMakers Reception, Summit, and Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill.
