“Be
patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop,
patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. (James 5:7)
It is hard to believe that April has come and gone and we are already beginning May. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Amber Hilstrom as Principal at Sacred Heart/ Sacré Coeur next year. We are truly blessed to have Mrs. Hilstrom join our Sacred
Heart/ Sacré Coeur School Family. On behalf of Sacred Heart/ Sacré Coeur welcome!
The Sacred Heart/Sacré Coeur Catholic School Community Council is holding the General Meeting and Elections on May 12
at 7:00 in the library. Nomination forms can be picked up at the office. We also accept nominations from the floor. The
regular meeting will follow the Annual General Meeting. Come and be part of our School Community and an important decision making Council in our school.
Due to the growth in enrolment, we have decided to have Track and Field over two days. Grades 5 – 8 will hold Track on
Wednesday, June 3. There will be a Bar B Que Hot Lunch for Grades 5 – 8 only. Grades Pre K – Grade 4 will have Track and
Field on Friday, June 5 following Gospel Assembly at 9:00. Bar B Que Hot Lunch for all students. Thank you for your support in coordinating our large numbers!
Just a reminder that the Estevan Police Liaison Officer is hosting a “Before You Hit Send” Parent information Night at
7:00PM, May 19th at the Estevan Comprehensive School. This presentation is packed with valuable information as our children enter the digital world.
Sacred Heart/ Sacré Coeur will be receiving another portable classroom to help with our limited space. Construction will
begin in early July, along with an expansion of the bathroom facilities. Thank you to the Holy Family Board of Education
and all the staff who make these projects possible for our growing school!
As always, it is important to keep the lines of communication open between the home and the school. Please contact the
school if your child will be absent for any reason. If problems arise, or if you have questions or comments, the best way to
solve them is to call your child’s teacher. Teachers’ at SHSC are also committed to creating good communication with home
and school. Thank you for your cooperation.
God Bless
Mrs. Mary Ellen Barreth

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND ELECTIONS
Tuesday, May 12th at 7:00pm
Have you been hiding your light under a basket? In the parable Jesus told about the master giving talents
to his servants, we are encouraged to improve upon and share our own talents and skills. Do you have a
particular affinity for crafting? Are you an excellent hospitality host? Do you love to work with numbers?
Are you good at organizing? Perhaps you have leadership experience. There are opportunities to put
these abilities and many others to use to help our school community by joining the SHSC – CSCC. You
can join in a variety of ways:
➢ There will be three positions up for election for two year terms at the annual general meeting; one
parent position and two community positions. In order to be nominated as a “community” member,
one must live North of the railway tracks and West of Souris Avenue. To be nominated as a “parent”
member you must have a child attending Sacred Heart / Sacré Coeur. If you fulfill both criteria, you
may be nominated in either category. A nomination form is included below. Once the election is
completed, the regular meeting will immediately follow. Elected members may then choose which
positions they would prefer (ex: special events or nutrition). If more than one person would like the
same position then a vote must be held among the members.
➢ There are also three positions available for appointment for a one year term.
➢ NEW this year; we are considering forming a “Classroom Parent” committee that would act as a
subcommittee to the CSCC. To achieve this we would need to have a parent act as representative
for each grade/classroom. This committee may be asked to take over responsibilities for the
coordination of certain events (ex: hot lunches or Teacher Appreciation Week). Classroom Parents
would be expected to be available to attend approximately three meetings per year. If you are
willing to be a representative for your child's classroom, please attend the annual meeting or drop
us an e-mail.
