ENTER AND WORK IN CONFINED SPACES (RIIWHS202D)
Provides participants with the knowledge & skills required to safely enter and
perform work in a confined space. The training covers the requirements of the
WHS Act/Regulation, AS2865:2009 - Safe Working in Confined Spaces & the
Confined Space Code of Practice.
PROGRAM INCLUDES:
 Conduct Local Risk Control (RIIRIS201D) &
 Work Safely and Follow WHS Policies & Procedures (RIIWHS201D)
Result:
Nationally Accredited Statement of Attainment in 3 UOC’s
Duration:
2 days
Prerequisites:
CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card)
Note:
Persons must be physically able to enter a confined space and undertake practical
components of this training program
 Defining & identifying a Confined Space
 Relevant Legislation, Australian Standards & Codes of Practice
 Planning & preparation – SWMS & work plans
 Identifying typical confined space hazards, assessing & controlling risks
 Confirm emergency response & role of stand-by person
 Conduct atmospheric testing, prior to entry
 Document confined space entry permit
Topic
Overview:
 Select/inspect breathing apparatus,
communication, PPE & rescue equipment
 Report faults in accordance with site
requirements
 Apply tagging & lock out procedures
 Prepare confined space for entry
 Enter & work in confined space
 Exit and secure the confined space according to procedures
 Complete documentation requirements
 Clean up work area, tools/equipment & remove barriers/signage
