Community Garden & SPOM JUNE Epistle 2015

S T. PA U L’ S U N I T E D C H U R C H O F C H R I S T
The garden is planted, mulched and ready for our
garden helpers to take care of it. Remember in the hot
days ahead, daily watering is needed. Next workday for
garden maintenance on JUNE 27th, starting at 8:00AM.
Brenda and Lee have chaired this wonderful garden
ministry since the beginning. They are ready to have
2 persons shadow them this season to take over
chairing in the 2016 season. Their hope is to have
2 persons chair in 2016 & 2017, having 2 more
persons step forward to chair and shadow in 2017.
We hope that we have enough people to chair that
we can keep this garden growing, rotating chairpersons every 2 years. Brenda and Lee plan to
continue to help with the garden and answer any
questions and will be chairs again on the rotation. If
you are interested contact Brenda or Lee ASAP!!
Thank you
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Sign up on the sheet on the Community Garden
bulletin board for a week (OR TWO) to take care of the
day-to-day garden maintenance: watering, weeding and
harvesting.
Sign up with another person or family. Our garden is
a lot for one person to take care of during peak weeks, the
end of June thru early September.
THINGS TO REMEMBER!
The key to the shed, where garden tools are kept, is in
a magnetic keyholder, under the pavilion bulletin board.
The two rain barrels are to be used to water by
watering can. There are also hoses AND a sprinkler
available.
Check the harvesting directions on the bulletin board
under the pavilion if you are questioning how big or when
to pick. Bags are available under the pavilion in the bag
container hanging beside the bulletin board.
Remember at the end of your weekly shift to write
notes on the bulletin board for the next person. EX: when
you watered last or when you picked anything last.
All harvested veggies should be put in the refrigerator
in the kitchen. Let Lee know when you do this so delivery
to New Hope can be set up. If you can’t access the kitchen,
contact Lee and he will pick up veggies that same day.
Any questions contact Lee (514-2095 – lejac@aol.com) or
Brenda (796-0939 – bkern59@verizon.net).
