International Athletes competing at Saskatchewan Marathon this weekend
The Saskatchewan Marathon Race Committee is pleased to announce that a number of international
athletes will compete as part of the Saskatchewan Marathon races this weekend. We anticipate tight
finishes in many of the competitions.
Three Ukrainian natives are travelling from their homeland to compete in various races on Sunday. Ivan
Heshko who participated in three Olympic Games: Sydney (2000), Athens (2004), Beijing (2008) will run
the Goodlife Fitness 10K. Kramariuk Ruslan whose 1.03.08 half marathon time in 2012 time earned him
a win at the Ukraine Championship, will compete in Saskatoon for a half marathon crown. Sergii
Vashurin who ran a 2:29 in the 2013 Ukraine Championship will run the Marathon, competing with the
likes of 6 time Saskatchewan Marathon champion Brian Michasiw (PB 2:36:55), 2014 champion James
Funk (2:49:26) and 2012 champion Brendan Lunty (2:34:58
Kanchhi Maya Koju who hails from Nepal will compete for the Saskatchewan Marathon women’s
marathon title. Koju stamped her dominance in the annual Kantipur Hero Half Marathon in 2014 by
winning the title for third time in a row at a time of 1:24:47. She has competed in races of various
distances all over the world, and we are excited to have her as part of the 2015 Saskatchewan
Marathon.
The Saskatchewan Marathon is now in its 37th year. More than 3300 participants are registered for the
Saskatchewan Marathon events in 2015 event and the Race Committee, and we are looking forward to
some great battles at the finish line!

The Saskatchewan Marathon race courses will start and finish in Diefenbaker Park with a route that highlights
Saskatoon’s Meewasin Valley and the South Saskatchewan River. The Saskatchewan Marathon is the oldest Marathon
in Saskatchewan. Organized and produced by the Saskatoon Road Runners Association, the race is a proud tradition
for runners in Saskatchewan and engages hundreds of volunteers to organize one of the most scenic marathon races
