FALL MEETING Badger Heritage Chapter – Saturday Sept. 12th Brodhead, WI
LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
By Ron Brefka
March 2015
Badgers,
I’m happy to say that there are, as of this writing, some really outstanding antique motorcycle events scheduled for this
year. From the Brewtown Rumble vintage motorcycle show in May to our Badger Derby National Road Run in August
and then slowing into fall with our unique Ride & Fly, we will enjoy some great chapter events this year.
Kicking off the season is our chapter Spring Meeting at Ken’s British Classics in Kenosha on Saturday May 2nd. Ken and
Rhonda will be our hosts and are two of the best folks you’ll ever meet. See the meeting flyer in this newsletter.
On May 17th the inaugural Brewtown Rumble Vintage Motorcycle Show will feature a vintage/retro show with twelve
trophy classes, live music, a pin-up girl contest, along with motorcycle vendors and exhibitors. The show is a
collaboration between MilVinMoto (Milwaukee Vintage Motorcyclists), the Badger Heritage chapter and others. The
planning committee is proud that all proceeds will be donated to the BUILD Moto mentor program for high school kids.
Not only will the BUILD kids be there with their bikes, the kids are also making the Trophies. As vice-chairman of the
Rumble, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention what a great job all the members of the planning committee are doing
organizing this show – and, along with FREE Admission, we welcome all makes and models of motorcycles.
On June 7th our chapter will sponsor the Classic Flat Track Series vintage motorcycle races at the historic Walworth
County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn Wisconsin on the ONLY crushed limestone track in the State of Wisconsin. Want to see a
750cc Harley & Triumph & BSA WITH NO BRAKES battle it out at speed going through corners sideways? THIS IS THE
RACE!! 9am-3pm
If you haven’t already heard, this year our chapter will host our first ever AMCA National Road Run. Held from August
27th to the 29th, the road run will celebrate the history of the Badger Derby Endurance Run and feature great scenic
rides, cool antique motorcycle events, a great banquet, music, and a few cool surprises. Don’t miss this opportunity to
enjoy a National Road Run right in your own backyard. Consider it a comfortable three day antique-motorcycle vacation.
A holiday where you can see old bikes, ride old bikes and talk old bikes in great settings with fellow antique motorcycle
enthusiasts from across the country. Knowing the Badger members, this will be a memorable event filled with laughter
and good fun.
We then look forward to the fall riding season and our first ever Ride & Fly and Fall Meeting. What is a Badger Heritage
chapter Ride & Fly you ask? It is a very unique antique motorcycle and antique airplane event hosted by Dave Zigmont.
We will be riding our antique bikes to an antique airplane Fly-In. We’ll be welcomed by the Wisconsin chapter of the EAA
(Experimental Aircraft Association) and have the exciting chance to ride in vintage flying machines. Enjoy the picnic
atmosphere of a rural airport, a great dinner, antique motorcars, a local Brewery Tour, and our Fall Meeting.
Of course we will also have the usual chapter events like the Wild Ones Weekend at the HD Museum and all the AMCA
Meets as well. Come on out, have fun and always …
Ride Free!

Badgers,
Thanks for the words of encouragement regarding my recent surgery.
The gift of the H.D. activity book by Jean Davidson has kept me busy....it's almost
completed....it's been a l-o-n-g recovery. :-)
