Requirements / Applications
The goal of the “Bridges to the Baccalaureate
Degree” program aims to increase the number of
undergraduate students in science* at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
The Bridges Program provides the students with
academic and summer research experiences to
improve math, science, and laboratory skills.
Students continue classes leading to an AA / AS
degree at their present community college for transfer to UMD.

Students must be enrolled full time at Lake
Superior College or Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College and enrolled in classes closely
related to their science* major.

Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA and be
interested in continuing their education in a
science* field.

Students from a federally recognized underrepresented minority group (American
Indian / Alaskan Native, Hispanic, African
American, and Pacific Islander) should identify
their
ethnicity on the application.
We target students who are traditionally underserved or are underrepresented
minorities.
An aim of the program is to recruit student populations who are affected by health disparities.
The program is a partnership between Lake
Superior College, Fond du Lac Tribal &
Community College and the University of
Bridges students are paid for up to 10 hours a week
during the academic year as a research assistant in
the laboratory / research facility of a researcher.
Students will also be paid for 40 hours a week for
eight weeks during a summer research experience at
the University of Minnesota Duluth.
