The Tale of Snow White
Einstein Drama Club Spring Play
The cast of The Tale of Snow White
The Tale of Snow White is not just another Snow White
play! Have no fear! This fresh and funny adaptation will
make even the most jaded folks laugh out loud as it
expands the Brothers Grimm tale with new characters
who have always lived between the lines of the classic
fairy tale. This version, using a fun frame story of a
contemporary mom reading to her bickering children,
is loaded with bright new faces and comedic twists. We
meet a gaggle of forest animals, friendly Dwarf Villagers, a
troupe of ladies-in-waiting with a penchant for limericks,
the Huntsman’s squabbling conscience and even a nerdy
governmental representative from the Department of
Natural Resources trying to keep the forest dwellers
from ruining the environment!

Science Presentation
Dear Families,
Please join me and the Einstein Staff for our Annual Spring
Open House on Wednesday, April 8th at 6:30 PM. The
informal evening is a time to get together and to celebrate
Einstein PRIDE. The Einstein PTSA and I will be honoring
parents and staff for their outstanding service and
leadership at 6:30 in the cafeteria.
The evening will feature Einstein musicians—both choir
and jazz band will perform—and Einstein artists will share
an interactive art exhibit in the SAC from 7-8:00PM.
The office staff will be selling Einstein spirit-wear and the
Library will host their annual book fair. All our teachers will
be available for a meet and greet throughout the evening.
Please see the following page for the complete schedule.
We hope you can join us.
Stephanie Clark, Principal
Science Teacher, Briahna Attebery, and 2 students, gave a
presentation at the Shoreline Public Schools Foundation
breakfast on Thursday, March 26. They talked about the
impact that SPSF grants have on Einstein classrooms,
especially the Interactive Science Notebook and the Kids
in Medicine Pig Heart Dissection Project and how they
enhance student learning and support the EMS science
curriculum.
Einstein Safe Route to School –
Project Update
Last year, the City of Shoreline approved new pedestrian
improvements in and around Einstein. The construction
has been postponed until summer when students will be
out of school to minimize risk to students. The project
design is complete and is scheduled to start approximately
6/22/15 and end approximately 8/28/15.
The project will include:
• Replacing driveways on NW 195th St to match the
elevation of the new sidewalk.
• Constructing accessible access from the NW 195th St.
sidewalk to the NW corner of the site. Adding curb ramps
at the entrance.
• Revising the pedestrian entrance at 3rd Ave. NW
(north of driveways) and constructing new curb ramps to
replace the existing ones.
8th Grade Gardeners
• Restriping both crossings on school property at the 3rd
Ave. NW side.
More information is available on the City of Shoreline
website.

Spring Testing Schedule 7
to p. 1
TEST SCHEDULE FOR EINSTEIN STUDENTS
Our spring testing schedule can look quite busy at first glance! One of our goals during the testing window is to try to
keep school moving forward as usual with minimal disruption. To accomplish that goal, this year students will be testing
in one of their regular classes each testing day and then attending their other normally scheduled classes. For example,
if your student has Social Studies 2nd period, he/she will start the ELA Non-Performance Task on Tuesday, April 14th
during 2nd period and then finish the test on his/her Social Studies block period day, which is Thursday, April 16th. Your
student will attend all other classes as they are regularly scheduled on testing days. The following calendar outlines the
testing schedule. The daily schedule (6 periods or block schedule) is a little different the weeks of May 4th and May 18th.
The days without shading are non-testing days, with a 6 period schedule. The days shaded green are testing days with a 6
period schedule. The days shaded purple are testing days with a 1-3-5 period block schedule, and the days shaded orange
are testing days with a 2-4-6 period block schedule. Each testing day lists the type of test the students will be taking, and in
which class the test will be taken.
There are 5 types of tests:
• English / Language Arts – Non-performance Task (ELA – Non Perf.)
• English / Language Arts – Performance Task (ELA – Perf. Task)
• Math – Non-performance Task (Math – Non Perf.)
• Math – Performance Task (Math – Perf. Task)
• Science MSP (8th grade students only)

Spring has Sprung!
Secretary
Michelle Ryder
Spring has just arrived, and with it, some of the most exciting PTSAsponsored events of the year. All of the 8th graders were able to visit
the University of Washington recently, giving them a vision of what their
future could hold if they work hard. The 7th Graders were able to dissect
hearts and see the importance of working in the medical or engineering
fields. Of course, as the weather turns warm, many of our students
will have a hard time thinking of anything except summer vacation. As
parents, we need to do our best to help them stay focused and finish out
the school year strong.

Suzanne Gugger and Carrie Campbell PTA Legislative
Directors
The legislative session is now officially half over. Bills
which did not pass out of their house of origin are now
likely dead for the remainder of the season. Once a bill
passes from the house it originates in, it needs to pass
the other legislative body and be signed by the governor
in order to become law.
One of the less often talked about concerns with fully
funding basic education in Washington State is the lack
of adequate facilities in many districts to accommodate
the reduced class sizes that the McCleary Decision
and the recently passed I-1351 (reduced class size
voter initiative) require. The Washington State Senate
is offering bipartisan legislation to help address the
growing need for elementary, middle and high school
facilities and the bill, SB 6080, will be heard in the
Ways and Means Committee this month. (For March 27
legislative action click HERE.)
Enjoy writing

We are looking for one more
volunteer to help with the PTSA

someone to design and layout

someone interested in organizing,
editing and soliciting articles
each month. Very fun job!
Work from home! Send an email

Tech students and our English Language Learners on a
field trip to the Shoreline Public Library on April 7th. We
will take a tour of the facility, sign up for library cards,

are there. A huge shout-out of thanks to our PTSA for
granting us the money to make this field trip possible.
Look for photos in the next issue of the newsletter.
Book Fair and Open House: The library will be hosting
a Book Fair from April 1st to 9th and will be open for
