San Diego Area Writing Project UC San Diego The College Admission & Application Essay • A workshop for high school seniors and community college transfer students • This workshop offers students an opportunity to develop thoughtful, personal and powerful admission/application essays for colleges, universities and other post-secondary programs. During the 5-day program, students will: • explore a variety of writing styles and topics • learn to engage readers and develop ideas • determine the most effective techniques, details, and structures for a strong essay • read a variety of sample essays • receive personal attention and feedback • learn about the role of personal statements in the application process Summer Session • July 13 - 17 • 8:30am - 11:30am 15 hours of group instruction with a 12:1 student-teacher ratio Follow-up Session • October, 2015 $300 Registration Fee ($50 non-refundable processing fee included • No refunds after June 29, 2015) Instructors: Divona Roy (Poway High) and Monique Lamphiere-Tamayoshi (Mt Carmel High) What students say about the College Essay workshop: I feel confident in my ability to write effective college essays on my own.
