Smarter Schools Low Voltage Lighting Solutions

Smart Lighting for Smarter Schools
SEA Group has partnered with Redwood Systems to provide a networked LED lighting solution that helps schools
drive down energy and maintenance costs while improving how schools and learning environments are lit. Our smart
lighting is simple to deploy and manage, provides intuitive web-based controls and energy reports, and enables the
most sophisticated, granular control over classroom, open areas, or individual lights in the system.
Ongoing Energy and Maintenance Savings
Designed to exceed all energy codes for school applications, the Redwood
solution provides comprehensive set of energy savings techniques, from
more efficient LED lights, to full range dimming, to sophisticated ways to
enable motion, bi-level control, and automatic daylighting, as well as per
fixture preferred light levels. When combined, these techniques can deliv
er from 50% to 80% energy savings, which for the average 150,000 sq ft
educational facility, translates to an annual savings of $50,000 a year.

classroom utilization
New Insights from Lights
Beyond ongoing cost savings, SEA Group and Redwood also deliver new insights into your building from the sensor grid
deployed with the lights. Now for the first time, “see” into your building with real-time web-based reports that can show:
1. Space-by-Space Utilization (when and how often are spaces being occupied)
2. Temperature Reporting — see across entire floor plans the temperature from a per-fixture basis
3. Energy Reporting — easily measure and monitor all light energy consumption on a room, hallway, zone, or entire
building level.

Quality of Light: SUNLIGHT VS LED VS FLUORESCENT
When comparing the spectrum of each, it is easy to see that LED
creates a fuller spectrum similar to sunlight.
Brilliant Lighting Linked to Higher Test Scores*
LED lights have been shown to create a fuller spectrum of light,
similar to sunlight. This becomes critically important in class
rooms, as several scientific studies have linked day lighting to
improved test scores and retention.
* A study by the Heschong Mahone Group based near Sacramento
found that students who took their lessons in classrooms with more
natural light scored as much as 25 percent higher on standardized
tests than other students in the same school district.
Create Learning and Engagement
on Sustainability
With full, web-based reports and easy access
to the system, schools can also expose stu
dents to learning about their direct environ
ment and how their activities and choices can
impact local energy consumption.
