We like to be in control and go our own way. This might work for a while but, ultimately, we find out that we really should be following – and, more importantly, who we should be following. During Lent we are called to bind ourselves more closely to Jesus Christ. We are called to deeper prayer which leads to a closer relationship with Christ and eventually to following him more faithfully. But it’s not always easy. Following Jesus and the will of God oftentimes requires change which can lead to uncertainty but can (and should) result in deeper trust. During my time here at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, I have learned to trust God more fully. My relationship with Jesus has grown stronger due to the beautiful witness of many parishioners. I have bound myself more closely to Christ and am finding myself called to something new. This call will take me from parish ministry which will be a difficult change but I am trusting that God has great things in store for me. My final day as a staff member here at the parish will be June 30 but that is certainly not the last you will see of me! I have found a home here at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and look forward to becoming involved as a volunteer. Our parish as a whole – including our pastor, staff, council and committee leadership, volunteers, the folks in the pews – is a wonderful place to worship and carries out the mission of Christ so beautifully. I truly feel welcomed, valued, and enriched in Christ when I am here! I look forward to advancing our parish vision in the years to come alongside all of you. I want to thank the many folks who have walked this journey with me over the past five years especially Fr. Paul, the amazing parish staff, and the many volunteers who have made my ministry a true joy! May God continue to bless all of us and may we all be willing to trust in God’s call for us when Jesus says, “Follow me...” Peace and blessings in the Spirit ~ Judy Brown Faith Formation Director Dear Parishioners, Judy Brown and I came to this parish at the same time over 4½ years ago. It is with considerable regret that I accepted her decision to leave her position as Director of Faith Formation at the end of June. Judy and I "learned the ropes" of parish life at SEAS at the same time, and we both came to know and love this faith community. It is easier to accept her decision knowing that this is a personal decision rather than one that was directly "job related.” Judy has gotten to know so many families through her leadership of the Monday and Wednesday evening faith formation sessions as well as through the extensive adult formation sessions she led. God bless her in her future endeavors. We are happy she will continue to be with us in the coming months. Fr. Paul Demuth Pastor P.S. Judy gave us early notice of her decision so that there would be ample time to seek a replacement. Please notice the posting of her position in this bulletin. Paul Demuth Last Session: March 23 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. St. Matthew's Parish 130 St. Matthew Street, Green Bay EASTER DUTY FOR HOLY COMMUNION What does it mean when we strike our heart while reciting the “I confess” prayer at Mass? All Catholics (after fully initiated) are bound by the obligation to receive Communion at least once a year. This precept is to be fulfilled during the Easter Season up to Trinity Sunday or anytime during the weeks of Lent. This prayer is called the Confiteor. Gently striking one’s heart when saying “through my fault” is a penitential act and outward sign of recognition that we are sinners in need of conversion.
