Home Library Service
Did you know that the Melton City Council offers a free home library service
to eligible residents who are unable to visit the library due to ill health,
frailty, disability or are full time carers? Library staff selects material
according to your interest and the items are then delivered to your home on
a regular basis by volunteers. Home Library Service members have full
access to the library‟s collections.

Community Care and Inclusion Services
A range of services are provided to residents of the City of Melton who have a disability or are older adults
and their carers. These services are:
Access for All Abilities
Assists local sports and recreational clubs to provide access opportunities for all abilities
Community Transport
Assist people who are unable to use mainstream transport to access council services
Volunteer Transport
Provides transport for eligible residents to access hospital and other medical appointments
Home Based Services
Provides Home Care, Respite, Personal Care and Property Maintenance to eligible residents
Planned Activity Groups
Provides centre based and community based activities to maintain and enhance the well being of frail and
older adults.
Melton Seniors Community Centre
Located at 1 McKenzie Street, Melton Combined Pensioners Association and Melton Seniors Citizens Club
provides recreational and leisure activities for older adults. Hall available for hire on weekends.
Melton Senior Citizens
9743 3727 open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1pm- 3pm. Activities include carpet bowls, cards, billiards,
bingo and bus trips. Bingo Monday, Wednesday evenings at 7pm.

The service caters for families with children aged between 0 - 6 years and is free.

Six in Six Cooking Program
Learn how to cook healthy low cost meals
What is Six in Six?
Six in Six is a group cooking program that aims to
increase knowledge and confidence about preparing
healthy meals on a budget through offering support with
basic cooking skills. The program costs $3 per person per
session and runs once a week for 6 weeks.
*To be eligible to participate in the Six in Six programs,
you must be: a resident of the City of Melton, aged 18 and
over and not currently working full time

Kinda Kinder
Is a free program aimed at children aged between 0-6 years old,
designed to enhance your child‟s learning and development of literacy,

Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood/Primary) with the support of
Primary Schools and Local Government.

Kidz Unplugged
Kidz Unplugged is a Uniting Care Music Program that incorporates social and
developmental activities for parents with their children aged 0 to 5 yrs of age.
Movement to music, dance, singing and instrument play provide a fun and exciting
environment for children to explore as well as develop confidence and positive
self- esteem.
Parent participation enables mums and dads to incorporate these activities into
their play and daily routines.
Sessions run on Tuesday mornings at the St Andrew‟s
Uniting Church in Sunbury:

6801 Youth Outreach Program
Did you know that Melton City Council Youth Services offers an after hours support service?
It is for young people, parents and community members in the Melton City
6801 operates every Friday and Saturday night from 6:00pm - 12:00 midnight. Young people can access
information and support on a range of issues by contacting Youth Outreach Workers.

Opening of Melton Library and Learning Hub
The state of the art Melton Library and Learning Hub is open for business!
The Five Star Green Star building is a people-friendly community hub that caters for everyone. The library
and learning hub is an airy, light-filled space spread over two levels and is more than four times bigger than
the old library.
It boasts an impressive suite of services, programs and facilities available in the community, including thirty
public access PC‟s available, eleven meeting spaces that can be booked for various activities plus Maternal
and Child Health services will also offer their services from two consultation rooms .
You will be able to grab a book, something to eat or drink and enjoy some quiet time.
The Melton Library and Learning Hub is located at 31 McKenzie Street, melton. There‟s on-site parking,
bicyle racks as well as being situated close to public transport .
Opening hours are from 9am on weekdays, with extended opening hours until 8.30pm Monday – Thursday.
Saturday hours have also been extended until 4pm.

Diggers Rest Residents Association Inc (DRRA)
