How to apply for an Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) at UQ Australian Leadership Awards are a new regional scholarship and training scheme for future leaders aimed at enhancing mutual understanding, knowledge and innovation and building partnerships within the Asia-Pacific regional. Students can apply to AusAID (Canberra) for the scholarship once they have an offer from The University of Queensland. Your agent can assist you with the application process, please mark on the application form that you will be applying for an ALA scholarship. Up to 150 scholarships are offered each year. Scholarship applications must reach AusAID by 31 July 2007 for study in 2008, and should include an unconditional offer of placement from the University. Eligible Program(s): PhD, MPhil postgraduate coursework programs Valued at up to A$130,000 for Masters and A$250,000 for PhD programs Benefits include: • Return air travel • Visa support • Establishment allowance • Full tuition fees • Contribution to living expenses • OS health insurance • International Academic Program • Leadership Development Program Open to all fields of study Applications encouraged for priority themes: • Security • Pandemics • International Trade • Climate Change (including clean energy) Eligibility requirements Applicants must: • be a citizen of one of the 34 participating countries • have been accepted into an Australian higher education institution at the time of application • have high English language proficiency required (minimum of 6.5 IELTS or equivalent) • have an undergraduate degree • be resident outside Australia Application process Application forms are available: • in hard copy at Australian Embassy/High Commission in the applicants country of citizenship • on-line at the AusAID website: http://www.ausaid.gov.au/scholar/ala_apply.cfm https://oasis.ausaid.gov.au/default.aspx?Function/Home/HomePageController= There are two (2) options for submitting an application - online and by mail.
