DEDICATION
Over the past few years, I've followed my dreams into many subjects to learn how to achieve my
goal of being successful and to teach others how to be successful as well. I credit Mr. Napoleon
Hill and his book, Think and Grow Rich. I would like to thank a great friend who has chosen to
remain anonymous; I could not have developed the unique way of approaching about life
without him.
I also want to thank my mother, (whom I call ammi - mom). She is not very educated woman,
but she knows a lot about life. She created an environment intentionally or unintentionally, which
made me think differently about life. Sometimes with anger, sometimes with frustration and
sometimes with love, no matter what I did in my life, my mother has always been there to
support me. She encouraged me to "Go for it!" She made me ready to face all the dangers of
life. Since a young age I have been involved in teaching and guiding students towards
successful careers. I began my teaching career when I was 18, and since then have cultivated
my blessing for teaching. It was then that I discovered my unique ability as a trainer, teacher
and motivator. I discovered a burning desire to help people solve the immediate problems at
hand in their lives. Under my mother’s loving environment I became the man I am today. She
provided a nurturing environment which gave the knowledge I did not have so that I could pass
it on to others.
After marrying my lovely wife Uzma, she quickly became my best supporter and business
partner. We have gone through our share of hardship to get to where we are now. She is a very
spiritual person and her spirituality has played a key role in my progress and success. She has
thought me to develop a deep faith in God and has inspired me to do great things in life. Living
with her made me strong and humble. I pray He gives me the power and strength to provide
people with the wisdom and words that will guide them in a successful journey.
I hereby dedicate this book to Uzma, the love of my life, who has always been there for me.

MEET SALEEM SHEIKH
Hi, my name is Saleem Sheikh. Over the next few days, you'll be reading my
book and learning the art of finding a great job. My commitment is to give
you the best of what I know, personally and professionally. My book will be
your guide to information that has the power to transform how you view
yourself, your job and your life. I know this information is true because I have
traveled the same path you are on now standing on. I lived similar business
challenges and made similar life-changing decisions. Please note that I am
SALEEM
SHEIKH
not a professional writer. Writers go deep in thought, taking out pearls of
wisdom and knowledge and placing them in front of you in the form of
words. I am writing to teach you what life has taught me. My message is about the issue of
finding employment, based on facts and common sense. I will be explaining my thoughts to
improve your job search.
When I look back on my life-long journey, I realize my transformation was easier because of my
passion for learning first and teaching second. During my high school times I started as a
private tutor who taught physics, chemistry and mathematics. I continued teaching until I
completed my higher education at NED University of Engineering and Technology, and
graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since then I have cultivated my
blessing for teaching. It was then that I discovered my unique ability as a trainer, teacher and
motivator. I discovered a burning desire in me to help people solve the immediate problems at
hand in their lives. During my undergraduate schooling in addition to teaching and guiding my
juniors in their careers I was involved in various small business partnerships, and various
lucrative investment certificates. After a year of working for FIAT Tractors, I joined Manhattan
College of New York for a Masters degree in Engineering, but transferred later to Pittsburg State
University, where I was awarded a presidential scholarship and graduated with an MBA
(Master’s Degree in Business Administration).
Upon graduation from Pittsburg State University, I joined various companies and explored my
future career but then I realized my motivation towards business and started a computer
manufacturing and distribution business. I owned and managed multiple locations and
distribution centers.
5
Then in 1997 I started US computers Inc. which later started an educational subdivision (US
Technical Institute), a private and postsecondary education center in Fullerton, CA. The
Institute was created to educate people looking to enhance their careers. We offered several
courses including but not limited to MCSE, A+ certification, Cisco certifications, and computer
assembly. My goal to provide meaningful training to people in large numbers was never
accomplished, until I created a special course to help people with disabilities find employment.
We ran successful classroom training sessions for our job placement program where we trained
disabled students who had been unemployed for a year or more. I helped develop this program
for a federal government agency, and was supposed to run parallel to the EDD program. During
the duration of our program, we were able to help more than 80% of our students find
employment. Despite the success of this program, it was not made mandatory for all of the
agency’s clients due to budget restrictions and government red tape. It was only after realizing
that the skills and systems we had developed for disabled people could work for anyone that I
decided to write this book. As a professional, I have seen thousands of resumes and cover
letters of people from all walks of life applying for employment. I discovered that most people
know they need a job but they do not know how to effectively and systematically find one.
Schools and universities teach their students how to be scholars, but most schools neglect to
teach the skills needed to successfully search for and find employment. I will teach you a
systematic approach for job search.
I am grateful that you have chosen to purchase my book. Courageously examine who you are
now, where you are in your life today, and imagine what it would be like to do something
different to realize your life's potential and dreams. Based on my experience, I am uniquely
qualified to guide you, and it is my pleasure to illuminate the alternative pathways for you to
achieve your vision of success. Over the past few years, I've followed my dreams into every
subject to learn how to achieve my goal of being successful and to teach others how to be
successful as well.
On the professional level, I have developed various plans for solving the unemployment and the
housing market dilemma. I have provided my humble solutions to President Obama and
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for their implementation and use. I have also designed a
solution to help auto manufacturers sell their automobiles by revitalizing and restructuring their
marketing systems. Three newspapers have printed my proposals; one of which has dedicated
a full page to my proposal for solving the housing market dilemma. I hope that you will take the
6
time to introduce yourself to me by sending a personal information sheet to me by fax or e-mail.
Unlike other writers, I would like to know my audience and receive their feedback.
Warmest regards and best of luck in your job search.

THE GOAL OF THIS BOOK
This book is written to be read more than once. Prior to learning about the skills and tools I have
provided, you have been looking for a job like everyone else. My intention is to change the way
you seek employment and perceive the job search.
This book is written carefully to be read from beginning to end, concepts that are introduced in
one chapter recur in other chapters, with their meaning and significance by the reader already
assimilated with the prior knowledge, chapters are designed to build around one another in such
a way that every word is to be read, every idea is to be considered, and every concept is to be
understood and absorbed. Are you serious about getting employed? Are you really serious
about finding a job of your dreams? Are you really? Ok we will see!!!
If you quit reading this book half way because this is not like a traditional book; or if you start
skipping sentences, paragraph or pages then you should know that you are not at all into
looking for an ideal dream job. All you are looking for is something to keep you busy and so it
looks like you are looking for job. You may be one of those who think hard work can get you
rich. If you really think that people get rich by merely hard work then forget it. Hard work can
merely get you a 9-5 job but you will never be able to achieve you dream. By the way do you
have a DREAM? YES I mean DREAM! If not then you need to dream first. Close this book,
imagine your dream. I know it is not so easy;
close your eyes and just imagine…… Imagine,
life has taken us so far from imagination that we almost have lost the skill of imagination. The
world, the TV and radio do not even talk about it, but trust me Dreams do exist and they do
affect us.
So here is what I am going to advice you, every day when before you go to sleep read this
portion of my book once and keep a note pad near you and try to imagine what you really want
to be, forget what you can be, and just think about what you want to be. Develop a burning
desire of what comes to mind. Every day repeat the same, and within one week you will know
one main thing that makes your mind glow with lightening, you will be happy and filled with joy,
when you wake up you will be worry free, and soft, gentile and full of energy. Once you find
exactly what drives you and keep you happy then, you can stop and think about it, is that what
you have been looking for in job, if not then could it be the reason that you are not happy.
9
Wouldn’t be devastating that you climb a mountain more than half-way and then you found out
that you have climbed the wrong mountain?
After reading this book you will have to take some action. You will have to change your view of
yourself, your capabilities, your abilities, your environment, your future, and the way you act,
talk, feel, behave and perceive employment. You need to modify your thinking on life and
employment. If you follow my guidance, there are endless opportunities for your success.
I assume you have been searching for job so far and have been unsuccessful which is why you
chose to buy to buy my book. Part of the process I am about to teach you will require you to
change, I am sure after reading my book you need to change the way you look for a job.
There is a saying “if you continue to do what you have been doing, in the past, you will continue
getting the same results that you have been getting up to now”. Innovations, advances in
technology and science and new products, they all required a change be made in the old way of
doing things. So I ask you to do not be afraid of change, let’s change the way we look at the job
or employment search while you are reading this book. Let’s assume for a moment that what is
mentioned in this book can get you to achieve you dream, and employment goals. So in order to
get new and exciting results we need to use new and exciting techniques. This book will provide
you with systematic instructions on how to get employed. I feel people worry too much about the
future. We use so much energy to worrying about the future; and end up doing little or nothing
about it. Instead we can use the same energy to create our future.
OUR BOOK
I want you to keep a pen or a highlighter with you while you are reading the book, and feel free
to underline or highlight anything that appeals to you. So you can come back and read it again.
As no one is smart enough to remember everything, and this book will make you think a little
differently, a little smartly and a little more honestly, so you may have to read it again, maybe
twice or thrice or maybe not. And yes you will be writing this book with me, you will be doing
some exercises which will make this book yours and mine, thus our book. I wrote a part of it;
and you will write the other part of this book. After you are done I assure you that you will never
find another unique book like this written by you and me.
SO YOU ARE MY CO-AUTHOR ……….

Some of the stuff in this book may be different and unexpected, I know that and I have
purposely put stuff in places where you might get shocked and not understand why is the
material placed where is at. But I am sure when you read the book a second or third time you
will understand. Someone said “a person who does not read is no better than a person who can’t
read”. Similarly “a person, who knows but does not apply the knowledge to be successful, is no better
than the person who knows nothing”. I am going to provide you all the skills and knowledge, and
then you will know what you need to do, all you got to do is practice and apply the knowledge
otherwise you are no better than anyone else. So after all you spent the money to buy this book
so you should get the benefit too. Fair enough? I am going to give you the recipe’s secret
ingredients. I will even provide you the pressure cooker. I will also tell you how long you need to
simmer it at low fire and how long you need to cook it at high fire, and all you have to do is to
follow directions and at the end, eat the meal and enjoy it!! I think you should be able to handle
that am I right? So let’s see, if you can follow my directions.
THE POWER OF YOUR MIND
You have a very important part of your body, which resides between your ears. Your mind has a
capacity to store data and facts a lot more efficiently than a dozen computers. If we attempt to
create a computer which can do the work of a human mind it would cost billions of dollars and it
would take a space of several rooms, and take a huge amount of power to operate; and after all
that it will be not able to have the creative powers which the God have given you. You may be
surprised or shocked to know but it is a well known physiological fact that our mind and thought
plays a very important role in our life. Many specialists believe that anything that we achieve in
our life; it starts first in our thoughts. And then our subconscious mind works on it and eventually
we achieve it. Look around you, look at the chair you are sitting on, look at the room, look at the
house you live in, look at the cup you drink your water. Everything you have around you was at
one time someone’s thought; someone thought of the idea of making these things and then it
was made into existence. Either it is your subconscious and thoughts or someone else’s but the
bottom line is we have thousands of things around you which are actual materialization of some
ones wishes and thoughts.
WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT?
11
If I were to ask you what kind of work are you looking for? Don’t just tell me that you need and
want a job; a job is very vague of an answer. You must have a clear pattern in your mind. Ask
yourself where are you headed? What is you exact goal? Have you visualized what kind of job
you really want; not only for today or tomorrow; but for the next twenty or thirty years? You need
to begin preparing yourself for a career that will serve you for a long period of time. I want you to
promise me that after reading this book (once or may be twice) you will do your best to know
exactly what job you are looking for. I promise you that I will help you achieve and attain the job
of your dreams, a job that you qualify for and a job that will bring you happiness.
IMAGINE
I am now instructing you to take all negative feelings out of your life. Imagine that that there is a
job waiting for you. That job waiting for you is the perfect job that you have been looking for all
along and all you need to do is to find it. Trust me you will soon make up your mind to go to
work and it will be a matter of few minutes or sometimes hours before your mind starts
producing ideas to help you find that job. Some of you reading this book may not have to read it
twice and will know exactly where the job is and how to get it. A few of you will get results even
before they finish reading the entire book. The most effective way of bringing the subconscious
mind into practical play is through making mental pictures. Use your imagination to form the
perfect image of the job you are looking for. Imagine the exact job, imagine what you would be
doing at the job, and the situation as you would like it to exist in physical form. You can call it
visualization.
Just imagining something is not enough; you have to go one step further you have to imagine
that you already have the job. Once you follow my directions and imagine the job that you are
looking for; you will be working. Please also note that you need to imagine yourself as if you
were actually working, if you do it right and get your subconscious to work on it, you will be
surprised; your mind, on its own, will manifest the job for you. You must wait patiently while your
subconscious assimilates the elements of your problem and let it find the correct solution for
you. You must have patience and absolute faith; as the subconscious mind will not take the
trouble to work for those who do not believe in it. Remember Imagination is much more powerful
than will power.
THE POWER OF PICTURES
12
Take a look around you, around your home, do you see pictures which are cheerful, happy,
successful, take a good look around you. You need to surround yourself with items and pictures
that show success. See if you have any pictures which show depression, sadness, and defeat.
Get rid of those pictures immediately. Take them off your walls and put them in your garbage.
Replace them with cheerful, happy, successful type pictures. All successful people have
pictures in their home that show positive images.
OPTIONS
After you finish reading this book you will have two options:
•
Option 1 -- You do nothing. You read the book and I’ll give you the information you need.
If you are not ready to take action, you can continue doing what you have been doing for
the last several weeks. Unfortunately, I know some people will do this and I cannot
change everyone. I am sorry that you bought my book. This option will cause you to
waste valuable time and information.
•
Option 2 -- You choose to follow the instructions in this book. You believe what I have
written is true and you start a new way of living your life because you believe in yourself
and know that you will get your dream job soon.
THE IMAGE OF SUCCESS
Let’s imagine you are a successful person already. Why do we have to be successful to start
imagining success, can’t we start imagining that you are already successful? Let’s begin doing
things that successful people do. I will give you techniques that most successful people have
used consistently. From now on, you are going to act, live and behave like a successful person;
because you are going to believe in yourself. Yes, believe that you are successful and
employed. Believing is a very important and critical part of success.
You may say that you are not employed, but in order to be employed you need to believe that
you are already employed. Your subconscious will do the magic. While you are looking for job
you should start imagining that you are successful, if you cannot believe that you are employed
yet, then at least believe that you will be employed within the next week or the month. Start
giving orders to your subconscious mind that you will have a job within a week. Don’t question
me and be doubtful, you have nothing to lose, just do it. Believe you are employed. Set a
13
specific date in your mind to be hired, and start working towards that target. You’ll need to
incorporate the techniques of success into your life starting today. The simple task of finding a
job can be treated like a game, along with rules and secrets. Are there secrets you can learn?
Absolutely! Let’s get started with the fundamental skills of finding a job.
THE END
This book is a unique book and is therefore started uniquely also. This book is about you, your
family, your job and your future. I believe that this book will be the end of your incorrect
assumption that you are not employed because you lack formal education; and that you cannot
find a job because of your lack of experience; or that your are having a hard time getting
employed because of your lack of transportation; or that the economy is bad; or that the entire
world is against you. This book will bring an end to your negative thoughts and you will now start
thinking with positive thoughts that will dramatically change and improve your live.
This book will be the end of all of your negative thinking. This book is the end of defeat and
being defeated. This book can put end to your tendency to give in to negative people and to be
influenced by their negativity. This book will give you all you need to achieve your dream job.
That job that you have been dreaming all of your life. A job that will provide for your financial
needs and that will give also give you a sense of accomplishment, pride, and satisfaction.
This is the end of your negative thinking and after you end this book you will start a new
beginning of a new and happy life. Of course you will be employed soon as you finish reading
the book.

CHAPTER 1 – PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Personal Development is the practice of self-improvement. It is a proactive choice to engage in
activities that serve to help you become a better person and live a more fulfilling life. Personal
development has made a difference in my life and I wanted to share this with you, because my
experience tells me that people who practice personal development tend to be happier,
healthier, and wealthier. Although this book is not about personal development I urge you to
seek a source of personal development that will give you the spiritual fortitude to help you
navigate the difficult process of searching for employment. Make no mistake, looking for a job is
not an easy process. Looking for a job is a full-time job. Its hard work, and requires dedication
and attention to the smallest detail. You cannot find a job by glancing at the wanted ads
published in your local paper every morning. As you will learn in this book, implementing all of
the techniques suggested in this book will most likely take most of your time. Much like working
at your full-time at your job does now.
HOW TO BEGIN YOUR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Start by changing the people who surround you, join a club, such as: The Rotary International,
The United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees), or The Toastmasters International. The point
here is to encourage you to be around successful people. Begin you personal development by
joining elite clubs that won’t cost you a fortune in membership dues. Clubs such as:
•
The smile and compliment club - Start smiling. Also compliment other peoples’ smiles
and smile whenever you have an opportunity to. Smile and think success, do not think
failure, and make extreme efforts to put only positive thoughts into your mind. Do not let
negative self-depriving thoughts come into your mind.
•
Professional organizations - Join at least one professional organization group in your
local area of specialty; this will provide you stimulation in your preferred field. Also join
23
one group outside your occupational interest, this will broaden your thinking and will
allow you to see the bigger picture; after all networking is the best way to find a job.
•
Self confidence club - Before you can sell your abilities to someone else it is important to
sell them to yourself. Look into yourself and see if you would hire you. Place yourself in
the shoes of the interviewer and see how he would look at you. What would he see in
you, what does he think is so special about you?
•
Confidence - This is probably something you lack at this time, it might be because of
your current situation of being unemployed, or your need to find a better job. Or it may
be the media’s endless bombardment, telling us that there are no jobs in the market right
now.
DETERMINE WHAT YOUR SALARY WILL BE 5 YEARS FROM NOW
Someone once said that “your salary five years from now will be the average of people who
surround you”. Can you see what kinds of people surround you now? So if you are you good in
simple arithmetic, can you average out the salary of your close five friends? Is this what you
want to be making five years from now? If not then change the friends you associate yourself
with. I am not telling you to lose your friends, I am telling you to make new friends who are
successful so their positive energy will rub off on you. Do not surround yourself with negative
people. Choose people who are optimistic and enthusiastic about life. Choose people who will
help to build a good self image, one that is worthy of true confidence.
A JOB OR A CAREER
By the way, are you looking for a job, or do you want a career? Do you know the difference
between the two? A job is a paid position requiring the employee to have specific attributes and
entry level skills which enable a person to perform tasks in an
organization either part-time or full-time for a short or long time in
duration, and usually paying entry level wages. A career, or trade, is
the sequence and variety of occupations (paid and unpaid) in the
same field, which one undertakes throughout a lifetime. A career
usually requires higher skills and higher education for which the
employee commands a higher earning potential. In other words, a
career is a life-long journey which requires dedication, serous
24
thought, preparation and higher studies to obtain higher level skills. A career may provide for
you a series of higher paying jobs that will provide a sense of satisfaction, pride, and
achievement for you. A well planned career is the ultimate source of prosperity, freedom, and
financial security. Working in a successful career is the direct source of financial rewards such
as a home, an automobile, a vacation, or travel. A successful career will give you the unique
feeling of achievement and success.
Most people want a great career that they can look forward to working in. Unfortunately, too
many adults settle for less by taking the first job thrown at them. There was a survey conducted
that asked people why they go to work and most people responded by saying, “Because
everyone else does.” Too many of us do not know what our dreams are in reality. Not knowing
our goal means that we cannot achieve it. I want to help guide you in setting your own goals and
building the desire to achieve each of them. I will provide you with resources that will create a
pathway for you to reach your goal. I hope that after reading my book, you will believe in
yourself and your capabilities.
SELF CONFIDENCE
In guiding you through the job search process I will be asking you to do one of the hardest and
most difficult things you may have done in your life. I will be asking you to have a high degree of
confidence in yourself because I order for you to find a job I am going to become a salesman
and sell a very unique product in the market – Yourself. You are the product we are going to
market. Self confidence is your perception of yourself and it has an enormous impact on how
others perceive you. Although many of the factors affecting self confidence are beyond your
control, there are a number of things you can consciously do to build self confidence. Please
use the following suggested strategies to reach the levels of self-confidence that you will need in
order for you to reach your highest potential possible.
•
Dress Sharp - Use this to your advantage by taking care of your personal appearance. In
most cases, significant improvements can be made by bathing and shaving frequently,
wearing clean clothes, and being cognizant of the latest styles. Dress the way your
employer would want you to dress. Do this every morning as you begin your job search.
This will help to put you in a working mood.
25
•
Walk Faster - People with confidence walk quickly so increase your self confidence by
walking 25% faster. This will make you look and feel more important and it will also
increase your self confidence.
•
Keep a Good Posture – People with a good posture feel more confident. So from now
please stand up straight, keep your head up, and make eye contact. You’ll make a
positive impression on others and instantly feel more alert and empowered
•
Your Personal Commercial - Write a 30-60 second commercial that highlights your
strengths and goals. Then recite it in front of the mirror aloud (or inside your head if you
prefer) whenever you need a confidence boost. Also record it if possible, and play it as
often as you can. Before you know it will become second nature to you, and you will be
able to sell your product at any given moment.
•
Be Grateful - Set aside time every day to mentally list everything you have to be grateful
for in your life. The best time to do this may be at the end of your day, when you are
getting ready to go to sleep. Take a few minutes and think of past achievements, skills,
education, relationships, your health, and all of the positive things in your life.
•
Praise People Around You - Get in the habit of praising people around you. Your friends,
your relatives, and people you come in contact with during your daily activities should be
complimented for their positive contribution to your life. By recognizing and praising the
best in other people, you indirectly bring out the best in yourself and increase your self
confidence.
•
Make Yourself More Visible – Whether you find yourself in a classroom environment, in
the office, or in public assemblies sit in the front row. This practice will help you to boost
your self confidence. You’ll also be more visible to the important people talking from the
front of the room.
•
Be heard – Make an effort to speak up at least once during every group discussion, you
may find yourself in (classroom discussions, meetings, and discussions with your friends
and relatives). This practice will help you become a better public speaker, more
confident in your own thoughts, and will prepare you to answer questions from your
future employers during the interview.
26
•
Physical Fitness - Having the discipline to work out not only makes you feel better, it
creates positive momentum that you can build on the rest of the day. Physical fitness
has a positive effect on self confidence because it improves your physical appearance, it
gives you energy, and it makes you feel more confident about yourself, your
appearance, and your image. Become more confident, stay physically fit, and work out
every day.
•
Help Others – There will always be other people around us that need our help. Seek out
opportunities to help those less fortunate. Set a few hours during the week to do charity
work as a volunteer in your local community. Feed the hungry, shelter the homeless,
visit the elderly, or buy groceries for someone in need, baby sit for a mother, become a
volunteer at red cross, spend some time with illiterate people, teach them, offer free
training for the skill you might have to your local church, mosque or synagogue, help
school kids cross the road when school is over, be a big brother for an orphan, take a
fatherless kid to a park. I am sure you can find several other ideas along this line. The
opportunities for us to make a positive contribution to the world, and help others in the
process, are all around you. Focusing on the needs of other will increase your self
confidence and allow you to contribute with maximum efficiency. The more you
contribute to the world the more you’ll be rewarded with personal success and
recognition. I like one of Michael Jackson’s (The King of Pop) song which relates to
helping the world around you, it is a very famous song, I really like what it says, and I
would like to share it with you. Here it is:
Heal the World
Artist: Michael Jackson
Composer: unknown
There's A Place
In Your Heart
And I Know That It Is Love
And This Place Could
Be Much Brighter Than Tomorrow
And If You Really Try
You'll Find There's No Need To Cry
In This Place You'll Feel
There's No Hurt Or Sorrow
27
There Are Ways
To Get There
If You Care Enough For The Living
Make A Little Space
Make A Better Place...
Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me
•
Stop wasting your time - Everything that goes into your mind has an effect on you. Your
mind records each and every little thing you see, so in order to keep your mind fresh and
positive you need to avoid pornography, after seeing these types of movies you are
sexually stimulated, but deep inside you will see yourself as being less respected. So
this is not the time to lower your self-respect, you need to avoid any possibility and
instance that will make your self-respect lower. As you may agree that it is impossible to
see mankind at its worst and not feel that your own feeling has diminished. Most X rated
films are advertised to be adult films but in reality they are for immature and insecure
audiences. And I am sure you are not one of them, and if you were, you are going to
change yourself NOW.
•
Similarly Soap Operas are another form of media making your mind work in a negative
way - What do you see in Soap Operas? Adultery, trial marriages, wife swapping, and at
the end of the episode you still do not know what is going to happen tomorrow.
Tomorrow someone in your favorite soap opera show will be in trouble, headed for
trouble or get out of trouble. If you keep on looking at negative things in life you will
easily associate them to your normal life and after some time you will start thinking
negatives and what ifs, just like they do in the soaps. By the way, stop reading your daily
horoscope. Reading the horoscope can be harmful to you because it takes away your
ability to take action. Do not read your horoscope, even for fun. It's not only a waste of
your time; but it will make you believe in things which do not exist. The bible says the
28
horoscope is Satan’s, so when you read the daily horoscope you are reading Satan’s
Daily NEWS. Stop reading horoscope period.
•
Mirror Theory - There is another theory very well known and practiced by successful
individuals. They look in the mirror and order themselves to achieve their goals. People,
even tell themselves in the mirror to fix their sickness and surprisingly enough they heal
without any medicine. Many people get confused and discouraged because they let
other people confuse them and listen to anyone they can, except themselves. They
believe all the gossip, rumors, and news media and forget to use their own fine
judgment.
HOW TO DEVELOP SELF CONFIDENCE
Let’s stop and think for a moment. Have you ever planned a vacation? First you got the idea to
go on the trip, and then you decided when and where you want to go, shortly you began to
visualize yourself in the mountains or by the beach, or in a new city. Then in a few days your
vacation turned out just as planned. Do you know what happened, you first visualized it, then
you believed in it, and finally it was materialized. If your mind can manifest a visit to the beach,
it’s easy to believe that your mind can manifest a job. Once you believe, God will create
pathways and your subconscious mind will come up with means to get employed. Yes, my book
will help you too, but I am insignificant if God does not want you to and/or you do not take
appropriate action you will not get a job. Trust me. Nothing can go against God’s will.
HOW TO DEVELOP A STRONG BELIEF SYSTEM
Stand in front of a full length mirror, if you do not have a full size mirror then a reasonable sized
mirror which shows you from the waist up will be fine.
Look into your eyes. Stand erect, bring your heals together, pull in your stomach, keep your
chest out, and your head up. Stand at attention as the army would say. Now breathe deeply,
and look deeply into your eyes. Tell yourself “I am going to get job as a
_________________________________within the next 30 days.” (Fill in the blank, if you are going
to be a salesperson you should say” I am going to get a job as a salesperson within one month.)
Believe in yourself, you can apply everything taught in this book within 30 days try not to change
it to 60 days or 90days. Make this a ritual, practice doing this at least twice a day, once in
29
morning and once in the evening. You will notice that within a few days you will develop a deep
sense of confidence. Believe that you are going to be successful; and that no one in this world
can stop you. Keep this practice secret if possible, if you tell people, you put yourself at risk of
being made fun of for being different, and your confidence maybe shattered. Confidence is not
innate, let’s dispose of these fallacies and distractions and first try to gain confidence through
our own practice and thoughts, let’s try to sell you to yourself.
Stand in front of the mirror and take the following steps. (For the sake of wording I am going to
use my name, Saleem, you can replace it with your name). Repeat this in front of a mirror and
once without a mirror on a daily basis. You may have friends and family who might make fun of
you for doing this, so it is advised to do it in solitude. Remember it doesn’t matter what other
people think of you, if they care about your well-being they should help you improve your selfimage. Confidence is not innate, let’s dispose of these fallacies and distractions and first try to
gain confidence through our own practice and thoughts, let’s try to sell you to yourself…
Stand in front of the mirror and take the following steps. (For the sake of wording I am going to
use my name, Saleem, you can replace it with your name).
Saleem Sheikh, meet Saleem Sheikh- a very important person.
Saleem you are a big thinker, a big achiever, and doer, so think big, go and achieve your
dreams. Think big about everything, you got plenty of ability to do a first class job; so do
a first class job.
Saleem you have happiness, progress and prosperity. (So talk happiness, Talk Progress,
Talk Prosperity).
You have a lot of skills Saleem a lot of job skills. So put your skills to work. Saleem you
are enthusiastic, let your enthusiasm show. You look good Saleem, and you feel good
stay good and keep feeling good. Saleem you were a great man yesterday and you are a
great man today and you are going to be an even greater man tomorrow. Saleem Go
forward and achieve all your goals!!
Good Luck Saleem, follow your dream, make it come true, take action now!!!
30
SELF CONFIDENCE IS THE KEY
Self confidence is the key to success in any new venture. A lack of confidence can be traced to
mismanaged memory. Your brain is like a bank; everyday you deposit into your mind bank
valuable information, these mental deposits grow and become your memory. When you settle
down and think about a problem you can easily trace the source of the problem. Your memory
bank will automatically answer and supply pieces of information relating to the situation at hand.
Your memory then is a basic supplier of new thoughts. Try to deposit only positive thoughts.
Let’s face it; everyone encounters plenty of unpleasant, embarrassing situations. Unsuccessful
and successful people deal with situations in directly opposite ways. Unsuccessful people take
things to heart. They dwell on unpleasant situations and they do not take away their mind from
them. Confident and successful people, however, don’t give negative things too much thought.
Successful people specialize in placing positive thoughts into their memory bank.
YOUR COMMITMENT TO A BETTER FUTURE
This book is all about changing your mindset. Are you willing to do whatever it takes to improve
your chances of being employed? Changing your mindset takes a commitment. Make a contract
with yourself to focus every day on doing whatever it takes to make a permanent, positive
change in how you conduct your job search and your life. Instead of asking self-defeating
questions about how long it takes to get employed and why the economy is not getting better or
how many resumes you have to send before someone actually calls you for an interview, focus
on what you must do to become more hirable. Reading this book will give you guidance on how
to implement systems, strategies and techniques. The first step, however, must come from
within. Making a commitment to change is paramount to your success. Here's a contract that
you can make with yourself. Read the words carefully and visualize how your life will change
when you make a total commitment to yourself and follow through to do whatever it takes to
make your dreams come true.
Please take a few minutes and read the contract on the following page. Be sure to understand
it. Once you understand it; be sure to make it a part of your daily life. Only by making this type of
serious commitment to your future career will you be able to truly becoming successful.
31
A CONTRACT WITH MYSELF
I currently feel great anticipation about my future. I have never felt like this before. This time
will be different, as I will take action and follow through completely on my commitment to
myself. By purchasing this book, I have already taken the first step toward improving the
quality of my life and getting employed forever. Today I, __________________________, commit
to continuing the process. I choose to take serious action and get employed; I will make every
effort and action to help me get successfully employed, in a more rewarding career and
fulfilling life. I will achieve this by continually implementing the systems and strategies I will
learn in this book. I also promise that once I learn the special secrets disclosed to me I will
share the information I learned. I will share information taught in this book to all of my friends,
family, neighbors, classmates and people I know who might need help in finding employment.
They too can purchase this book and benefit from the strategic information. I will not waver on
this commitment to myself. Today, I agree to do this.

THE POWER OF CHARITY
According to former US Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, his father John D. Rockefeller gave
each of his five children an allowance. They got 25 cents a week and had to earn the rest of the
money they got. Nelson raised vegetables and rabbits to earn part of his money. In addition
Rockefeller senior required all the boys to keep personal daily account books. They were
required budget their allowance money and their earnings as follows: Give 10 percent of their
income to charity. Save 10 percent, and to account for the rest. They had to balance their
account books every month, and be able to tell what happened to every penny they earned. The
Rockefeller kids were taught a specific pattern for spending their money. Imagine the discipline
it took to live up to this philosophy; earning what you have, giving away the first 10 percent,
paying yourself next (save 10 percent), living on the rest and accounting for every penny. If you
can understand this model, then you understand the power of discipline and the power of
sharing your good fortune with those less fortunate.
WEALTH STEWARDSHIP
The Rockefellers, like most great American billionaires, looked upon their wealth as a sort of
stewardship. They believed the money wasn’t theirs and that it belonged to God. They were the
caretakers of the money which was to be used for the betterment of others, while thoroughly
enjoying the benefits of their good fortune. With this being a gift of God, they had no problem
giving back 10 percent. God to them was their best silent partner. You will be surprised to know
how many successful and wealthy people feel the same way.
CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME
You too can give back to the God and the community. If you do not have a job or money, I ask
that you do whatever you can to help others. I am sure that if you look through your homes, you
will find items and clothing you don’t use that others may find valuable. For those of you who
have jeans or dress clothes that you are waiting to wear after losing weight, give them to the
Salvation Army because they may be out of style by the time you do. Anything you give will be
exchanged with a receipt that provides a deduction for God to bless you. Because I am a
person that happens to embrace the stewardship concept I have decided to donate 10 percent
of revenue received by sale of this book to my favorite charitable organization. As I am a firm
33
believer that God is my silent partner in this venture, and I am more than willing to share my
good fortune with those less fortunate around me.
I INVITE YOU TO SHARE YOUR WEALTH
So let’s see, I would like you to write down a realistic salary you expect to get from your new job
below:
EXPECTED SALARY
By following the methods provided to me in this book. I am expecting to earn a monthly
salary of $____________________. This expectation is realistic and it reflects the current
market conditions as well as the value of my experience, education, and qualifications.
Now let’s imagine you are able to get a job with a salary higher than the amount you stated
above. Would you be willing to give away a 10 percent of your monthly income to a charity?
What about an additional 10 percent of the monthly income you earn above and beyond the
salary you are expecting, can you give away 10 percent of the additional salary to a charity of
your choice? Let me give you an example: Imagine you were expecting a monthly salary of
$5,000 per month, and after reading this book, implementing my ideas and by the grace of God,
you end up getting a job where you get paid $6,000 per month. This is $1,000.00 per month of
extra income. Now, 10 percent of your salary is $600 and 10 percent of additional income is
$100. You can choose to donate $600 per month or $700 ($600 + $100) per month to a charity
of your choice. Regardless of the amount donated, you will be making more than expected. If
the money is a result of God, then it would only be right if 10 percent of the money is given
back. If you don’t have the money to donate now, then just imagine and commit yourself to
giving back in the future. You do not have to agree with my proposal to donate to charity.
However, I strongly agree that helping those in need will allow God to help you in several areas,
including getting a job. If you don’t know a charity or cause to reach out to, I will gladly help you
find someone in need.
I don’t want you to think this is an ordinary book or as some process of converting words into
your desired outcome just to please you. This book wasn’t written for your amusement or to give
34
you temporary relief from the hardships of job searching. Listen; it’s absolutely not. You and I,
WE are here to make a DENT in the universe, otherwise why even be here! We are creating a
completely new stream of consciousness, as an art or a poem that is how you would have to
think of this. We are rewriting the history of current human thoughts; this is what we are doing,
this is why we are here, and YOU are a part of this momentous and monumental movement.
After reading this book you will hopefully have it figured out, it’s about empowerment, it’s about
believing in yourself, and believing that it’s YOU who can make a difference in not only your life
but in the lives of others around you; it is much easier than you think. The difference comes
from within, an external stimulus conjures thoughts which create a vibration and causes you to
manifest what you are communicating within yourself in turn you reflect these thoughts to the
outside world. I will help you control your innermost feelings and the way you communicate with
yourself and others. It’s like a country where the army generals initiate a coupe to overthrow the
government, the first thing they take over is the way people communicate, the radio, TV, news
paper, thus communication is information and information is power.
INFORMATION IS POWER
In this digital age, often times we communicate within ourselves through information fed through
the media (T.V., radio, etc.) but in reality ultimately we choose which information reflects who
we are and process this information as being true. Someone who always hears negative things
about themselves will begin to process this information to be true and eventually will begin to
constantly conjure negative thoughts about themselves. Thus we need to communicate better
within ourselves so that we can communicate better with others. Our communication within and
with other people shows how valuable we are perceived to others.
Communication is the primary source of transferring information to others and is the basic mode
of power. If its power that you want, then you need to learn how to communicate, and by
communicate I mean communicate well, above average communication skills are necessary to
be successful. Please note communication does not simply mean to talk, anyone can talk.
Communication is the first thing we learn, even before we learn to walk, as a newborn we learn
to cry. When a newborn cries it’s trying to communicate something, unfortunately in most cases
we have no idea what the newborn is trying to communicate to us. They cry when they are
hungry, cry when they are uncomfortable, cry when they are lonely. So what does the newborn
35
learn to do? It learns to speak the language of an adult; language is the medium in which we
learn to communicate in.
So what’s the point of this section? What I am trying to convey is that to successfully
communicate you must learn which medium is the most effective way to get across to the end
audience. Communication is a two way street, it requires a person to say something and of
course the other person to understand what is being said. If the other person can only
understand French then, yes you guessed it; the only way you can communicate is to speak to
them in French. To take it to the next level, if someone communicates best visually then be
more visual for them and use body language, or perhaps they prefer hands on communication
then use objects or tools to better describe your point. You may notice that in this book I use this
approach to communicate better to you. If you’re visual you will read the book and learn, if you
are auditory then you will listen to my audio CDs and listen to my book, and I have various
hands on exercises that will help you if you learn best through feel.
This concept applies universally, in any field you may apply yourself in. Let’s suppose you want
to get a job in engineering, then talk engineering during the interview. Use words that are
commonly used in the field of engineering, talk about software you may use, and if you can use
complex engineering vocabulary it will help promote you in the interviewer’s eyes. Now, don’t
get too ahead of yourself and throw out big words that you don’t fully comprehend, if a follow up
question is asked, be prepared to articulate on that thought. If you were bluffing the interviewer
will surely know.
YES, each field of employment has its very own vocabulary; you need to learn and practice it
before you meet the interviewer so that you are prepared. A lot of books about interview
techniques will give you sample questions and answers but fail to inform you about the human
element. The interviewer is a human being with emotions and feeling just like you and me.
Books on interviewing techniques often times will subconsciously train you to think that the
interviewer is a robot, and are certain to throw out these generic questions at you. I’ve been
through many interviews as the interviewee and in more cases have been the interviewer. I can
tell you right now that those who often pass my interview are those who ask about my company,
they seem enthused to learn about me and my business philosophies and in turn use the same
terminology I used in my explanations throughout their interview. These people understand the
human element, thus are instantly favored through my eyes.
36
Hopefully now we understand that information is the key to achieving power and that
communication is bi-directional and should be in a language that the interviewer speaks. You
talk, I listen, then I talk and you listen, but in order for communication to be successful, we both
need to understand each other too; this is the most important aspect of communication.
Communication is not just talking and listening, it is about people understanding each other. To
truly listen and engage what the other person is saying. If there is no understanding then
communication becomes nothing but noise. This is probably why we forget several
conversations daily. Most of our so-called communication is far from superb; it is just filtered out
noise, learn to listen, and listen to learn, and then you can truly achieve power.
So this means that when we need to communicate in a powerful manner we need to
communicate in such a way that the other party not only listens but also understands our point
of view. The key to success in looking for a job is communicating effectively and successfully
marketing yourself and your skills. That’s right, marketing. You might have a great product but if
proper marketing is not done and the right message is not conveyed the product will fail. So if
you do not do proper marketing and your marketing medium is not providing proper
communication about you and the services you are planning to offer then you will fail.
Remember looking for a job is nothing but marketing or selling yourself.
Bill Gates once said, something like this “it is our job to find out what the other guy doesn’t know
he needs, but he needs it, then we make sure he knows that he needs it, and then we make
sure that he gets it”. You can’t sell ice to Eskimos and you can’t sell the bible to the pope. The
world needs people with talents and you my friend are among the most talented artist, it is just a
matter of time you figure out which art you’re good at. So let’s market you.

THE POWER OF PRAYER
Now if you are atheist or agnostic or in any way sensitive about the subject of God, skip the next
four pages because it may make you uncomfortable. But if you believe God then please, read
further:
Pray to God every night before you go to bed and after you wake up in morning pray he
will help you find the correct and appropriate job as soon as possible.
Some people may argue that there is no GOD, that there is no divine power, and that there is no
proof of GOD. You cannot prove GOD through science and logic but there are things around us
which we cannot explain, super natural things and spiritual powers which explain his presence.
For example; when you see a big bridge there was a builder who constructed it with concrete.
When you see an airplane you know that there was an engineer who drew the blue prints, and
when you see a space shuttle there was a scientist who thought of the quantum mechanics and
the chemistry of rocket fuel, each one of these designs were very precise. If you truly think of
the origin in all these things you should be thoroughly impressed with the engineering dynamics
that were involved, yet these are just things that are manufactured by us human beings.
What about the engineering dynamics of the human body? Unfortunately most people when
they see themselves they do not tie the thought of their body to a creator. The human body has
various microscopic and intricate control systems. Think about the power of the human brain.
How it thinks, functions, analyzes, stores information, retrieves information, distinguishes and
categorizes the information in milliseconds and does this continuously. Think about the brain for
38
a moment, the brain thought of the mechanics of the bridge, the plane, and the rocket ship. The
next logical question would be who thought of the mechanics involved with the brain?
Think about the heart, it pumps non-stop for sixty, seventy, in some cases even a hundred
years, it contracts and discharges blood throughout the body, supplying it with oxygen with
precision. Think about the kidneys, what kind of functions it performs? Kidney the central
chemical lab which resided inside our body, the purifying instruments of the body which
performs hundreds of chemical analysis simultaneously. And also control level of the toxicity in
the contents of the body; and it does this automatically. Think about your eyes, (human camera)
that’s adjusts, focus, evaluate, applies color automatically, the natural reception and adjustment
to light and distance automatic, think about it. Who created that, who has mastered that, who
plans that and who regulates that? Is it human beings themselves? No of course not!!
WHO IS THE CREATOR OF ALL WONDERS?
What about the universe, this earth is just one of the planets in our solar system, and our solar
system is just one solar system in the Milky Way, and the Milky Way is just one galaxy in this
humongous expanse that we call space. They all work in synchronization, all precise, and like
clockwork they swim in orbit through space and time, they are not colliding with each other and
they are swimming along in an orbit. That has been set for them. Is it man kind that set them in
motion? Is it mankind that maintains this universal time clock? Of course not! Furthermore; think
about the oceans, the fish, and the insects. Think about birds! Think about the animals! Think
about the plants, the seed and how it grows into a tree and then produces fruits for us to enjoy!
LEARN TO ACCEPT AND APPRECIATE GOD
If you do agree with the existence of God then you should also know that there is nothing in this
world that can happen without the will of God. This does not mean you cannot do anything
yourself, this means that if God wants to stop you from doing anything then you cannot do such
thing without God’s will, but do you know that if God wants you to achieve anything you can
have it in minutes, may you finding and getting employment be the first wonder that you’ll
experience and with it you may learn to accept and appreciate the presence of God.

CHAPTER 2 – RESOURCES FOR THE JOB SEARCH
WHAT RESOURCES CAN HELP IN YOUR JOB SEARCH?
As you begin your job search you will find out rather quickly that there are hundreds if not
thousands of resources available to you that promise to make the job search easier for you. It is
your responsibility to explore and to finally decide which resources to use. However; I know from
personal experience that in today’s competitive job market the computer and the telephone may
be your most important tools in effectively finding information and job leads.
41
COMPUTERS
With today’s job market, it is crucial that you are familiar with the use of computers and that you
have a basic knowledge of Internet navigation. In addition, most jobs require you to be proficient
in the MS Office applications, such as: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. The use of these
computer applications is no longer a special tool to be used by computer experts. It has become
an everyday business tool, and employers expect and in some cases demand proficient use
and application of these popular computer applications.
If you don’t own a computer, or if you are not familiar with the use of MS Office Applications,
please feel free to visit my computer store at www.uscomputersinc.com to place an order for a
new computer. Or you may also call US Computers, Inc. at (800) 550 -- 8783 and you will
happily be sold a complete economical computer system. Mention that you have purchased my
book, along with your proof of purchase and you will be given an additional 10 percent discount
off the already low prices. If you need assistance learning the fundamentals of the Internet or
how to learn the use of the above mentioned software programs, please visit my Web site
www.getjobinaweek.com where you can purchase the learning tutorial that covers the following
material. You can also receive a 10 percent discount. If you do not own a computer or are not in
the financial state to purchase one, I understand and will recommend that you use your nearest
library as a resource. Please do not take computers, computer software, internet navigation,
email applications or computer technology and its applications in business as something to be
dismissed lightly. The use of computer related technology has changed the face of business
worldwide and its here to stay.
CELLULAR TELEPHONE
Having a cellular telephone is the next most important tool for you to use during your job search.
Please be sure to purchase one before you start writing and sending out your resume. A cellular
telephone will allow you to have a direct channel of communications between you and your
prospective employers. It will allow you to call employers and also allow them to call you. If
possible, never give employers your home telephone number as children or relatives who may
not answer properly may answer the telephone and create an unfavorable image of yourself
with that particular employer. When using a cell telephone, make sure a voicemail is set up for
employers to be able to leave messages.
42
VOICEMAIL AND VOICEMAIL MESSAGE
A simple and brief voicemail message will let your employer know that you are serious and
responsible, which is a great first impression. I cannot tell you how many times, when calling
people for an interview, I have listened to the following types of messages, some of which were
so bad that I chose not to leave a message. Due to this bad impression, I moved on to the next
person, causing the individual to lose the opportunity for an interview. So be very careful with
your voicemail message and be sure not to make any of the mistakes listed below:
•
Do not included a very long song first and then say,” You know what to do.”
•
Do not have children answer your mail and then send your caller to voicemail.
•
Do not say “What’s up?” and then follow it with long beep.
•
Do not use ring tones which use songs with explicit lyrics and then a beep following.
Surprisingly, I have even received a resume with a telephone number no longer in service.
Other times, I was given a telephone number on the resume that belonged to the girlfriend, wife,
brother, or father, who answered the telephone (please note employers are not at all interested
in talking to your girlfriend). I have even had someone answer the telephone without a clue of
the applicant because the number had been cancelled and assigned to someone else by the
telephone company. The worst mistake is to find a resume with no telephone number, because
most employers will not take the time to e-mail you. As an employer I have experienced
reviewing several resumes at the same time, and calling with high hopes of talking to the person
I feel might be qualified. If the number is disconnected it gives a signal that you may not be
around or not be interested in the job any more or that you are not a responsible person. In
short, it makes no sense to send out a resume with a wrong, disconnected, or a relative’s
number.
SUGGESTED VOICEMAIL MESSAGE
To be successful in your job search please considering using the suggested voicemail scripted
below. Take a serious look at this message because a poor message can make or break all of
your job search efforts. Record it in a nice and simple message on your cellular telephone or
43
home answering machine. When you record the message for the first time, listen to it and be
sure to record it again until is perfect and you like the way it sounds.
