Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation At Therapeutic Associates Bethany Physical Therapy, we offer a comprehensive Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Program that provides highly effective treatment. We treat a variety of health issues and offer services to males, females and pediatric patients. Pelvic Floor Muscles The muscles in our pelvis, often called the “Kegel Muscles”, have 5 important roles in our body: They SUPPORT the pelvic organs, bladder and colon They STOP and START the flow of urine and the passage of gas or stool by closing the sphincters They serve for SEXUAL function They STABILIZE the hips, lumbar spine, sacrum, and pelvis during movement to reduce low back, hip and lower extremity pain • They may provide “SUMP PUMP” ability for the lymphatic system which carries away toxins of the body, and protects against disease • • • • If you are having problems in one of these categories, that means these muscles may not be working optimally in other roles in your body.
