Pennsylvania Coastal Zone Management Program
Tidal Delaware Water Trail Project
September 2007
CZM PROJECT NUMBER: 2005-PD-14
This project was financed, in part, through a Federal Coastal Zone
Management Grant, administered by the Pennsylvania Department
of Environmental Protection (DEP).
Funding provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA), United States Department of Commerce,
under Award Number: NA05NOS4191089
The views expressed herein are those of the author(s) and do not
necessarily reflect those of the U.S. Department of Commerce,
NOAA, the PA DEP nor any of their sub-agencies.

Subject:
Final Performance Report (10-01-2006 to 09-30-2007)
Tidal Delaware Water Trail Project
Project Number 2005-PD.14
Dear Grantor:
The Tidal Delaware Water Trail Project is nearly complete. Despite the initial delays in
starting the projects (and the extension of the project deadline from March 2007 to
September 2007), all the consultant selection, field work, data collection, stakeholder
engagement, and map graphic design tasks have been completed, as are public outreach
and stewardship tasks. The draft print-out of the map has been sent to stakeholder
groups, and the beta website for the Tidal Delaware Water Trail is now online (check out
www.tidaltrail.org).
Two tasks remain for completion of the original scope of the grant: the actual printing of
the Water Trail maps; and the public launch of the map and website. Because of the PA
Fish and Boat Commission (PA F&BC) printing schedule, the printing job could not be
accommodated until early Spring 2008. Once the PA F&BC prints the map, however, the
Pennsylvania Environmental Council will immediately schedule and stage the public
launch for the map and the website.
Funding from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources remains
available for this task; and PEC anticipates possibly gathering additional sponsorship and
additional partners to make the launch event a success. Upon completion of these tasks,
PEC will submit an addendum to this final report to provide a record of completion of the
launch tasks to the PADEP-CZM.

6. Ultimately, have useful and used Delaware River Water Trail! (We are well on the
way)
Stakeholder review of the draft water trail maps was initiated in September. Based on
comments received to date, PEC does not anticipate significant revisions to the maps as
we move towards finalization. PEC established a water trail agreement with the PA F&B
in the spring of 2007, under which PA F&B agreed to print the water trail maps. The
package content, time of year of submission, and PA F&B priorities and workload at the
time will determine production schedule. We are requesting an early 2008 printing, in
timing with our goal of a map and web site water trail launch in the Spring of 2008.
As previously mentioned, once the PA F&BC prints the map, the Pennsylvania
Environmental Council will immediately schedule and stage the public launch for the
map and the website. Upon completion of these tasks, PEC will submit an addendum to
this final report to provide a record of completion of the launch tasks to the PADEPCZM.
Please let us know if you need any additional information regarding this project, or if you
have any questions related to information above
We thank you again for the continued PADEP-CZM support of efforts to revitalize the
Tidal Delaware Basin, and look forward to continue to support PADEP priorities in the
future.
