There’s a vintage, old world, ethereal quality in much of the styling and fabrics, using aged whites and dusty winter pastels, with darker woodland greens and inky black. Shapes and details are inspired by the Victorian to Edwardian eras; the prime time for fantasy and mystery. From hoods and capes, lacey or over-scaled pretty SAMPLE knits, long, printed maxis to a plethora of ruffles, fur trims and decorative details, it’s a winter wonderland story that will appeal to the junior, trend driven market. For contemporary brands, use the palette in more sophisticated shapes and luxe, soft fabrics while keeping that feminine edge. With prints straight from the storybook, woodland creatures, insects and butterflies plus folkloric jacquards and dark winter florals, styling segues smoothly from sweet and romantic to dark and edgy; day into the deep night. The off white, cream and black combinations we developed in SS15 is reworked here for autumn in pretty knits, lace ACCENTS and jersey fabrics and yarns with lots of texture. Edwardian influences will appeal to the junior market. The three dark shades are intentionally menacing and offset the rest of the group. The dusted antique pastels are core colours in key shapes for underpinnings and outerwear and, when combined with the stronger accents, bring a sense of fantasy colour to the story. Use as base shades for solids and prints with the Fir Green the new fashion shade to update khaki basics and utility styling.
